I have an Infocus projector that has an S-Video input on it. I have a new satellite receiver that has an HDMI output on it. How do I connect these two devices so that they will work? I already have an S-Video cable run between them that I was using for my previous satellite receiver that did have S-Video. Now, I am stuck. What to do?

You provide more details and realize that you are a bit SOL as far as I can tell.

S-video can't even deliver an HDTV signal. So, if your projector lacks these VERY basic items then you have a projector that is not capable of HD display no matter what:
EITHER - A DVI input, a HDMI input, a component video input, a RGB/component video input, a VGA input (that may accept component)

So, it's time to be specific - MODEL numbers. Saying an InFocus projector is like me saying I have a GM car. It means very little when trying to solve a problem. Make AND model number for anything you need help with.

Now, on top of everything, S-video simply won't cut it no matter what. Component video is the minimal video feed that is required for HDTV. While HDMI is typically a tiny bit better, it is not 'required' for HD signals. But, S-video and composite video are not capable of handling HD signals, so you don't get them that way.

Provide the full list of inputs/outputs on the back of your projector and give a model number. Then, perhaps, you may not be outta luck. Also, with your sat receiver, I imagine that HDMI isn't the ONLY output. You likely have component and composite there, and maybe even an s-video output.

How much access do you have to run new cables to your projector?
