Hello everyone, I'm new to all of this but want to dive into buying a HT System for a new home. The system will be going into a room which is approximately 16'6" x 16'. I should also mention that this room is also backing out to the kitchen and nooke area behind. My first hurdle was where to look and what to look for. So far my preference has been to go with a small satelite type speaker as we like to keep the speakers small and out of the way. We will primarily be using for watching movies however would also like reasonable music listening capabilities. The budget ..... Well I don't want to spend millions but something with reasonable quality, reasonable performance and reasonable price (ideally less than $2000 but willing to move up if required). My plans are to originally set the system up for 5.1 but want to build something that is expandable to 7.1 once this format is more common. I have looked around at all the shops here and the system I'm leaning towards is this mirage omnipolar. I think I can get away with the nanostat system (5 satelites and 8" subwoofer) for $1000 (canadian) and Yamaha RXV1500 (~$700). In the store I was pretty much sold on both of these but have read some negative feed back on the 1500. I have not read many reviews on the nanostats and was wondering if there would be enough power in them to fill this size of room or if I should move up to Omnistat V2 satelite. Nothing at this point is set in stone, and I would appreciate your opinions on this line up as well as recommendations that you feel might fit my criteria.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.
