I wish that he would just defend himself....correctly.
WTF is your problem, I offered a polite difference of opinion and you jump all over my sh!te. I asked for clarification on a statement that I didn’t understand, what was the response? I know nothing and tubes suck. I’m sure your god given talent is helping people all over the web. Is your opinion the only one that exists? Oh ya, I guess it does, look at all the posts. Ha!

I never saw a question. Only comments. And, seeing as how you deleted your posts, there is no proof. I think the key here is that you don't understand.

So, if you would please give some respect to the OP, and let this get back to the point. Hijacking a thread to talk about your feelings is not cool.

I currently own the Bose Acoustimass 16 6.1 speaker system; I also incorporated the Bose VCS-10 as my center channel to obtain a 7.1 speaker setup. My concern now is to obtain a high quality receiver to get the best possible surround sound and up to date technology. Some of the receivers I been looking at and strongly considering were the Yamaha RXV-2600, Denon AVR-4806CI (Strongly Considering), and Pioneer VSX-84TXSi. I am open for any suggestions and am fully aware the speakers that I already own might perhaps be out of reach to handle these monstrous receivers. On that note, I did inquire with each of these manufactures and the results I got from each is that the speakers are fully equipped to handle the power of each of these units. Again, any suggestions, advice, is much appreciated. Thank You!

Didn't say tube preamps and amps were bad, just that they add distortion (pleasant distortion to many including me). It is fact they add audible distortion, don't believe me look it up.

I agree with Nick, about there being a difference (massive) between Tube and Transistor amplifiers. But please don't start a thread on that topic. We have enough on that already. Comparing a tube amp to a transistor amp is like comparing apples to oranges. They are completely different in principle design. Tube amps add distortion to the signal, that is the warm airy sound. It may be a treat to listen to, but it isn't accurate to the original recording.

As for the OP topic, getting a reciever in the $300-500 would do you just fine with you sound system. The Pioneer VSX-1016 is an excellent choice, it has great features.

I prefer my Tube amp over all my SS stuff . I can listin to the tube amp for 5 hours and my ears still want more . It might add distortion , but thats not a bad thing , I love it , it makes the symbols sound more real than a Denon or Yammy . For $500 us you can buy a Tube amp like mine , Then you roll the tubes later when you might get sick of the sound .

Ha LOL, tubes are an acquired taste, like vinegary wine. They have a neat sound, but it can be recreated using DSPs (much cheaper)
I find they have a great sound and it was not a aquired taste for me ( mine landed on my lap and now i am a tube amp fan ) . I have some very good SS amps , but i love the tube amp and listin to it the most out of the sound it produces , it is very nice sound , not neat sound .
The tubes them selves canbe a aquired taste , when you decide to roll your tubes :) .
And yes i guess we hijacked this thread :) .

I can see you don't understand what I mean. Tube amps (preamps) are an acquired taste, meaning some like them some do not. I do like them. The fact is they sound different from solid state devices, also that tube amps are distortion kings. But the distortion is defined as pleasant by tube amp afficiandos, and I agree in that respect.
