Hi, I have a surround sound (Not sure on the make) and im trying to connect it to my lcd tv however im having trouble. The television is also a monitor and at the back there are 6 different outputs (the l,r and the different coloured ones) which makes me think I should have a l and a r cable, however the output on my surround sound is just the 1 cable (it looks like the end of a stereo jack cable) I have tried putting the end of the cable into the l and then the r but its not working.

However on my freeview box (which is connected to my telly from a scart cable) there are also l and r holes, when i put this cable in there it doesnt fit properly but there is little sound in some speakers.

Can any one help? I know the whole surround sound works as I have inserted the cable into my laptop and it plays the music.

Noobsaibot, welcome to the forum!

I think that you're going to want a cable like this. You'll plug the RCA connectors into the left/right outputs on the TV, and plug the stereo minijack from your surround system into the other end.

Hi, I understand.

I just checked back of my lcd screen and there are three connections available one which is white, another yellow and finally red. Would I require the 3 RCA connecter cable or the 2?

Also I can see the cable you showed was a Rca to female, could I buy a Rca to male and replace the whole wire with the other stereo jack wire that I have now?

Thanks for your reply

No, just the two. The yellow jack is for video, so you wouldn't use that for the surround sound.

Yes! It was actually more difficult to find the female to male cable. You could get this one that should work great for you.
