Need Help Choosing Speakers

CB I really don't want the floor standings anymore. I'd really like something smaller now. Are the P163's good for a center too? I'm thinking yes since most people here suggested to get the (5) 163's and M8's woofer. Sorry for asking so many questions I just want to get a good setup. Besides Craigslist is there a similar place I can put up an ad for free?

What kind of ad are you trying to place, a WTB or selling your other surround sound? You can absolutely run 3 P163s up front, but I'd opt for the center if you can afford it.

Something else to consider though, if you are going to use speaker stands, bookshelf speakers are going to take up just as much, if not more room than the floorstanding speaker. Plus the bass extension of the P363 will let you get by without a sub and still have good bass.

Yeah an ad for the JBL's 5.1. I see you have JBL E20's how do you like them? P363 may happen if I sell my Cerwin Vega's.

I have had my E20/E30 combo for maybe 4-5 years now. I got all 5 speakers in my surround sound setup off Ebay directly from Harmon Kardon (owns JBL) as refurbs. I think I may have about $300-$350 in all 5 speakers and they have been some of the best money I have ever spent.

I know a lot of people bash JBL, especially some of their more entry level products, but for home theater they are hard to beat. I owned Paradigm Studio 20s before these, and the quality is not even close. Yet neither was the price.

I just ordered a small Jamo set (that I posted in the deals section on here) and tried them out. They don't even touch the JBLs. Having said that if I can sell the Jamo setup and the JBL E30s, I may get a set of 363s

You know what I'm gonna setup the JBL's and see if I like them. I have to set them up anyway if I'm gonna sell them. There is a delay on the Infinity speakers from the person who is selling them, so I have to wait till next week or so. CB is there a video guide step by step on how to setup the Onkyo Receiver? I tried yesterday. Seems kinda hard. I'm coming for an OLD 90's Kenwood Pro Logic V8540 receiver(http://www.egrabow.com/rm.php?e=AVCA&v=294) to the Onkyo 707. Oh by the way I have those JBL's E20's in cherry color in a box in my closet. hmmmm :D

I haven't "setup" mine other than plugging in the 5 speakers and all the inputs. I have done no room configuring, source renaming, nothing except the firmware update, which is very simple.

I am going to tackle all of that this weekend, including adding in my new rear speakers to move to 7.1. I'll then use the mic and let Audyssey do it's thing. I too would love to find a link that has good instructions on how to calibrate and what mode to leave my Blu-Ray source on, etc.

Are you getting any sound with that setup?
Oh yea I was running some Dolby Digital last night from the TV on my 5 channel setup.

If the speakers are hooked up and the sources are correct, you are going to get sound just like any other receiver. When I was referring to setup, I meant calibration and determining optimal listening modes.

I would get five identical P163 all around. They are accurate speakers so they will perform well for any channel.

I have used the P163 as center, & it sounded great.

It's hard letting go, isn't it? I feel the same way after I sold my DefTech BP7000SC speakers.

Evolution. We all change. There is no right or wrong in this hobby. But I shifted from "inaccurate speakers" to accurate speakers and never looked back. Speakers with flat and smooth on-axis and off-axis frequency responses.

Once you get better speakers, you will not miss them any more.

Don't forget about sentimental reasons.:D

I still miss my DefTech BP7000 speakers.

After I auditioned the B&W 800D, RBH T2P, Dali Euphonium MS5, I still thought my BP7000SC were great; I was not convinced of upgrading at all.

Then I auditioned the Orions. That was the 1st time in a while I wanted to upgrade my speakers. I also auditioned the Salon2 and fell in love.:D

But to this day I wish I had kept the BP7000SC. The Infinity P362 are accurate, but the BP7000SC are more fun.:D

The Infinity Primus is nice - however, just not enough there for me.
I want to hear the new Definitive Studio Monitors, when they come
out. If I do miss any speaker, then maybe Atlantic Technology.

I miss the CV, but now I have more space. I hooked up my pair of JBL E20 and I'm shocked how good they sound and actually some nice bass too.:) AcuDefTechGuy you are tempting me on the Infinity P362. Darn missed that Craiglist deal.:( Maybe another pair will show up. I hope.:D Yes time are tough for us all. :(
