sorry for double post (this was posted yesterday on audiophytes), i wouldn't do so except i have a limitted time to purchase some gear, and need advise...

---

i have just purchased a denon avr-3802 and a set of montor audio silver s6. this is my first "real" sound system, and i am VERY happy with the stereo end of things.

the dvd end needs some help. i will probably eventually go to 5.0 or 5.1 surround sound, but in the mean time i think i need a center speaker to get better dialog out of dvd movies.

i can get an exellent deal on a monitor audio bronze center speaker right now (and a pair of either bronze b1s or b2s if i can swing the cash). do you all think this would be a decent center speaker for my setup? i am concerned about matching the sonics of the s6 towers. will the bronze come close enough, or do you all advise that i save cash for a monitor audio silver lcr?

if you want to comment on the bronze b1s or b2s in back as well, please do so! thanks in advance, can't wait to get some feedback.

the price breakdown is like so: bronze center $175 (Good Guys liquidation), or silver center $485 (thats the lowest price that i froogled. any favorite audio sellers on the net?)

thanks again, bk

Check www.audiogon.com too, just to see if there are any used Silver centers. If not, the Bronze should be OK for the time. My recommendation would be to get the matching center, because it does make a difference for the front stage (to me it does for sure).

Check Audiogon or Ebay and look for a Gold center. Ive seen them go for around 500 or so. I never was a fan of the silver S center although maybe it sounds better now that they have gone to a ported design for the silver RS.

I've heard more than one person say they actually like the Bronze center better than the Silver. Of course, the Gold should be better than either of them :)
