I understand that but you are only matching the 2 speakers that go to that volume control, you are hooking multiple voume controls to a single source... so if the volume control makes the load 6 ohms for each pair and you have 3 pairs with 3 volume controls it doens't matter much.... If he used a multi channel amp then yes, its a good idea, but when using a selector and 2 channel amp it does more harm than good.. I started with expensive volume controls, impede matching allen keys to tighten in the cables, very fancy... when a friend of mine told me to try the simple volume control because my sound was shaky and would not go very loud {even with the larger amp}, I agreed, I bought 3 of the new controls and it was night and day.. I don't know why, nor do I care, but it sounds better, and the volume controls have never failed vs replacing multiple matching versions....
