Need advice with Bose speakers

I bought into the hype about Bose cube speakers and I bought the acoustimaster 6 series 3 set of speakers. I am stuck with these speakers for a long time (I am married to a woman who expects me to get my money's worth from these speakers). I also have a Sony STR-DE 845 receiver (the display is starting to go, so this maybe replaceable. Since I use my system for sports and listening to rock and metal, am I SOL because I bought Bose or can I tweak things until they sound good? Thanks in advance.

Bronco,

There's not much you can do except to ensure that you are pointing the speakers at the listening position to get the best possible imaging. If you are against the rear wall (your listening position) aim the rear speakers along the wall (at each other) rather than at the listening position for the best possible surround sound.

In addition, you can play with the subwoofer positioning, though this has less impact than when doing so with a traditional subwoofer.

Two things:

1) There's no reason you can't have enjoyment out of this system - nobody shot your dog, you're just better equipped/informed for the next purchase. :)

2) Bose has an excellent resale value on eBay. (hint, hint)

Have a great week!

bose

ok i wont poke your eye out over the bose stuff but i do have a suggestion that may help a bit.

it's been a while since i looked at bose stuff & correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure there are 5 satalite's in the accoustimas 6 system, try placing more than 1 cube in the same location for instance 2 cube's left(same location) & 2 cube's right(same location) & the remaining cube dead center,i would also avoid putting the cube's anywhere where the sound can be absorbed by it's surrounding's like on book shelve's,you might also try putting the cube's as close to the wall's as possible to reinforce what sound is actually there, also try to put the cube's at ear level in relation to your seated listening posistion & facing tword's your seated listening spot.

i would also try to play with the location of the bass module, try to corner the bass module first to maximize what little bass it produce's.

by doing this you will loose any surround sound that you had but it should increase dynamic's a bit for music.
