Vinyl can sound really good on a 1000 budget if done carefully by choosing the used route for speakers and amplification. Turntables from Orbit snd entry level ProJects play very decently. New vinyl is expensive but one usually gets a download coupon of the album these days. Beauty about vinyl is that the format doesn't fall prey to the loudness wars and as a result offer more dynsmic range then their CD counterpart in todays recordings. I have many albums in both CD and vinyl and no one medium holds the advantage of sounding better than the other.
