I had a our new home wired for stereo with in ceiling speakers and a dedicated sound closet for the equipment. The equipment is as follows:
Receiver: Rotel RX 1052
CD Changer: Rotel 1055
Musical Fidelity X10-V3 (to add warmth to the slightly sterile Rotel)
XM-Receiver
My problem is the my installer installed rather cheapie 6" in ceiling speakers. Some rooms only have one stereo speaker, others have 2.
In the dinining room, there are two rectangular speakers. I can't remember the names of the speakers ,but they were only maybe 40 bucks each, and my installer told me I'd be impressed with them...I'm not. Very little bass, slightly muddy and hissy highs. Not much better than a 6" factory car door speaker.
I honestly don't feel that these speakers do my Rotel system justice.
I've dediced to go ahead and replace all of them with a higher quality speaker such as Niles or something, but I need some suggestions on what exactly I should use. I will not be cutting any additional holes in the ceiling, so I want to stick with the same number of speakers I have. Going to an 8" speaker would be possible though, just no larger. Also, should I add a central sub somewhere? Maybe in the centrally located sound closet if I provide ventilation for the sound?
Any ideas!
