Need advice about receiver

Hey every one, I need some advice. I’m not sure witch way to go. Over the past 5 years I build my self a modest HT. Waiting and running around for good deal and trying to match best equipment the best I could. My receiver is a Kenwood VR3080 ( I got it brand new for $600 cdn) , and all my speaker and two sub are JBL (except my center channel is a Infinity IL-36c) 95 % of our time (wife 3 kids) we watch movie.

I’m getting 40 this summer and I would like to buy myself somting nice. I like to upgrade my receiver, it’s not a bad unit and the remote is great, but it’s missing a bit of power, and few of the new goodies (DPL II , component conection etc…)
Right now I can get a Rotel RMB-1075 for around $1500 cdn (that would resolve any kind of power issue) or should I change the receiver and go the next step and spend $2000 cdn on a Rotel RSX-1056. Maybe because I past so much time watching movie insteed of listening music, I should stay in the “entry level” class and get a good Marantz. I can get the SR6400 for $900cdn right now. When I read review about the Rotel , it sure sound like a +10. That might be my last receiver , espicially if my wife ever learn about the price of the RSX-1056 unit…..Thanks

If it's going to be the last one (for a while anyway) you may as well shoot for the moon. Your wife can only kill you once :D

Just got my Rotel RSX-1065 back from the shop (cosmetic dimming in the display panel, repaired at no charge under warranty) and I cannot believe how great it sounds. The shop had loaned me a Denon 2805 and, although I LOVE my Denon 2200 universal player, that Denon receiver did not (and should not, for the price difference) hold a candle to the Rotel. I have heard of many (and succumbed to my fair share of) unjustified "upgrades" but the Rotel receiver is one I'll never regret and appreciate more as time passes. Even if primarily for movies, the REAL power of the Rotel will only add to your excitement levels. Good luck!

Ref: advice about receiver

 Hmmm, Okay, you kind of right...she can kill me only once...many different way...but only once

In Canada the Rotel RSX-1065 is almost $3K and that is $1K over my limts.

So if I "shoot for the moon", does the Rotel RSX-1056 (Little brother of the Rotel RSX-1065) build quality can be good for the next 10 years ?

I be 50 at that time.....probably 1/4 blind, 1/4 deaf, and half on my way to St Peter gate.

By the way,
Thanks for you advice

Peppy
