Need a new reciever for bedroom!!!

I just purchased my Panasonic G15 plasma, a LG BD390, and now find myself in search of a decent but not outrageously priced surround sound reciever. I am currently using a Yamaha RXV 863 in my tv room. I am happy with it. I know the two latest editions to the yamaha line up have not had the best write ups. Partially due to the dumbed down amplifiers.

I found a few of the 3 series models for sale and would consider purchasing the 663 without hesitation especially for the 350$ they are getting rid of it for. However, I am looking for suggestions otherwise if there are any and would like to hear any ideas to the contrary if people are thinking I should steer away from the yamaha...

I don't remember ever reading anything bad about the 663. If it has the connections and features that you want, I say go for it.

Matt was selling his a while back for about the same price. I don't know if it's still for sale, though.

I never heard anything poor about the 3 series in the RX line. It was after that that the amplifiers got swapped out for a weaker unit in place of more options maybe...

I just did not know if there was a better option for me to be looking at. This particular set up will be primarily for movies and such. I suppose for 350$ the RX 663 is a pretty beefy reciever with quite a bit behind it to back it up!

I am also going to be streaming movies from my laptop and or my LG BD390. I don't know if this has any relevance in regards to my next purchase for a reciever?

I want to know why the TV in your bedroom is better than the one in your entertainment system. I would think you'd bump that set to the bedroom and put the new set in the entertainment system.:D

Well Seth I never really looked at it that way...

I suppose I could do that. I did not know that my new tv was leaps and bounds above my older model. I could still do it however. My new plasma is still sitting in my office on the floor. I am still trying to figure out the best way to hook everything up. I did not want to mount the tv on the wall until I ran cables in the wall. I am trying to figure out if I need a Cat 5e line in the wall? I do not know how much heavier my older tv is than the new one either and whether my Mono Price mount will cover the extra weight?

I mounted the new TV in the bedroom. The PICTURE IS CRAZY... it came out really well. My woodworking skills shined, the mono price mount is holding up well. It is not the sturdiest mount in the world, they could have done a better job with the pivot points, maybe some better bearings, but otherwise it is a great piece of equipment. The TV is great, and the LG BD390 is rock solid also.
