Thank you one & all for your learned input to my query! I chose the Denon AVR-X3500H; it's installed and working beautifully!

I came to this forum about 10 years ago, seeking HT advice, and the response was terrific. Upon returning for yet more knowledge, the response was wonderful yet again, and I wanted y'all to know how very much it was & is appreciated.

Congratulations, that's a great choice! I hope you got it for a good price because the 3600 is out, though the 3600 is not 11.1 processing capable, but the preamp/amp section of the 3400, 3500 should be the same, just two channel less and can process only 7 channels.

I found the 3400 capable of first class sound quality, as good as anything I have ever owned and I owned/still own a few separates. The 3500 should be just as good, so enjoy the superb sound quality, if the source media quality is superb.

In Canada, about 10 days ago Bestbuy.ca and Amazon.ca were selling the Marantz SR7013 for C$1249.99.
The SR7012 went down to C$999.00 in around Oct 2018, so if you can wait, you probably will see the SR7013 drop to C$999.99.

HKAVRs do not have any fuller, richer sound than Yamaha, Denon or Marantz's in pure direct mode, but if sound processing, equalizers etc., are used, then anything is possible.

The Canadian sales on the Marantz SR7013 is back again, at Bestbuy.ca for now but Amazon.ca would likely follow soon.
