Hi,

I currently have a sony projector(VPL-HS51A) and I want a DVD player that can give me a better Picture(720p) than my NAD 572(480P).

My NAD 572 dvd player is great for 480p but I want to use the full resolution of my projector (720P). I have already tried some "cheap" options(sony NC85H, Sony NS75H, Elite DV-46AV) but the picture was not better than what I already have or if it was no one(me, my wife or friends) noticed it.

Now I am considering the following DVD players Denon 2930ci and the yamaha 2700? But my question is If you should instead get one of the new HD or blue ray playes?

What would be a known and proved recommendation for less than $900.00?

Thanks in advance

If you go HD OR BLU RAY then go that route. IMO the oppo dv981 for all around universal player and the dv 971 if only to be used for video.:) You can't go wrong with either!

oppo dv981

I agree with Billy P. The OPPO dv981 seems to the one of the best on the market and it is very reasonably priced. I would wait a little while on the HD DVD or Blu-Ray player IMO because half of your favorite movies might only be available on one format, and that would drive me nuts.

got a Denon 2930CI in my car right now. I'll try it tonight but now I think I want to wait for the Toshiba HD-XA2:D .

Anyways if anyone interested in a pretty new Denon 2930CI for only $600 shipped let me know

I wanted a universal player with good video and especially good audio performances so i ordered a Yamaha dvd-s2700,as for blue ray and hd dvd, i'm going to wait until the "war" is over and a clear winner (if there is one) emerges,by then the prices will have droped and i'll still be able to use my 2700 to play cd/sacd's

I have the samsung bd-p1000 and the HD-A2, between the two, I prefer the Toshiba. the blu-ray looks just like my Denon 3910.

tico, let me know when your ready for that HD-XA2 and hit me up.

WOW the 2930ci is awesome. Picture is so much better compare to the one I was getting from using my NAD 572 through component(nordost cable). I am wondering how much better the HD-XA2 would played SD DVD's than the 2930

Thanks
