They look like Altec knock offs. I hope you don't listen to them side by side!

IMO they could be Electro-Voice cabinets, or they could even be DIY work.

My reasoning is based on the fact that the top section doesn't seem to be high enough to allow even a 811 sectoral HF horn. Moreover, to my knowledge, the only corner enclosures which Altec Lansing manufactured are bigger and contained their Duplex coaxial monitor 15 inch 604 driver. Altec never used foam grilles.

I thought they looked similar to 1970s Altec, but the foam used for the grills is more in line with JBL from that time. Also, the width isn't much different from the receiver and 5 disc Sony CD player, which would be 17"- too narrow for the Altec 15 and certainly not as large as the Altec 19, which are close to 36" high.

No identity clues on back of speakers or underneath the grille?

Vintage speaker cabinets usually have removable backs, while more recent ones have drivers which are normally screwed from the outside.

Ask for a shot of the back panel. The ad for them came up too in the image search.

I haven't seen them yet - at estate sale starting tomorrow. In this part of the world, Klipsch is the immediate guess, but i've never seen Klipsches with the angled backs. I'll know more tomorrow.
