Hello guys--Audiogon has the NAD at a fair price. I always have liked NAD, I owned an integrated years ago (don't remember the model) that I loved. As I continue my quest to put together my modest system, I would like your opinions on this receiver, and whether you think it would be a significant upgrade from my current Denon AVR591, driving my fronts of PSB B5s and C5 center, Tannoy VR surrounds. Still considering my sub options, though I'm sure I'll go with either SVS or Hsu. Thanks for any help.

Not a upgrade really. The denon 3312 from AC4L is 649 currently and that is a better upgrade path all things equal

You can pick up a nad t448 refurbished from Spearit sound, NAD_T748_Surround Receiver_Spearit Sound

I like my NAD AV receiver a heck of a lot for music and movies. I'm using mine to run 4 ohm speakers. The NAD T748 weighs in at 25 lbs.; the Denon weighs 20 lbs. I like my av receivers with a bit of heft . . .

You definitely give features that are pretty common on most AV receivers today.

Crossedover although I have been very satisfied with the 591 and denon generally I was wondering if the nad might be a better match with the psbs

Feature wise the denon makes more sense. From a power perspective the same.

The NAD is not a better match.

I don't have the measurement for the model you are looking at. But here is another model.

WPC x 2Ch 8ohms/ x 2Ch 4 ohms/ x 5Ch 8 ohms (HTM):

$1600 NAD 757: 121.9/181.0/91.2
$1200 Denon 3312: 143.3/225.5/103.0

As you can see, the less expensive Denon actually has more power output all around than the more expensive NAD.

Another example:

$580 Denon 1913: 117.7/151.1/81.7<O:p</O:p

Even at almost 3 times less cost as the NAD, the $580 Denon has almost the same power output; the difference is insignificant.

So the NAD doesn't do anything better than the Denon.

I would also consider the Anthem MRX line in this price range.
