Hello Everyone! This is my first post on here. My current HT setup is the Following: Mythos 2 Front L/R, Mythos 3 center channel, Mythos 5's Rear Surrounds, Supercube III. Everything is power by a Yamaha V3800 Reciever. I usually use this setup for HT only.

I am considering upgrading to the Mythos ST Front L/R, and matching Mythos 10 center channel. What is your opion on the ST's? They seem kind of pricey, would this big step up in sound output? Is the built in subs really the equivelant output of a Supercube I?

When I was looking for speakers about 5 months ago I was able to audition those. I absolutely loved them. They had great detail in all of the notes. I would have purchased them if I had had the money. The subs are good but having an actual independent sub would sound a lot better. And no, the subs are not equilelant to a Supercube I.

First, the Mythos STs sound great and look fantastic. I've listened to just about all the DefTech towers, and they all sound outstanding. The STs do sound better than the Mythos 2 in terms of bass, midrange, and highs. However, I don't think the high price justifies the STs.

The ST's frequency response is 30Hz-20kHz +/-3dB @90dB w/m (26Hz-20kHz +/-6dB).

The SuperCube I is 20Hz-150Hz +/-3dB @90dB w/m.

So as you can see, the Mythos STs' built-in woofers are NOT equivalent to the SuperCube I.

At $ 1,300 each or $2,600/pr, the Mythos STs are not a great bargain, especially when you compare it to the DefTech BP10Bs ($400 ea), which are 25Hz-20kHz +/-3dB @90dB w/m (20Hz-20kHz +/-6dB).

Unless you just got to have the Mythos because of aesthetics & WAF, I would go with a pair of BP10Bs ($800) Plus the SuperCube Trinity Signature ($1,900) = $2,700.

I just bought the Trinity for $1,900 brand new locally.:D
