My sub Def Tech supercube II just died.

Well my Supercube SCII died. I noticed the sound very thin just before, and looked and the light was out. Actually I got up to turn the sub up thinking my son touched the knob but nope, the light was out. Checked the connections, checked the plug, plugged into my HT receiver in the bedroom and nothing. I wonder if its under warranty? The store I bought it at does not sell Def Tech anymore either. What do I do here in this situation? If I just say screw it and buy a new sub, what is the smallest in terms if footprint and dollars can I get? I have Def Tech SM65 for mains which put out pretty nice bass for the size so I just need some need something to compliment them, just to help them along if you will.

Not sure exactly what would compliment the SM65 due to me not hearing them but I would contact Def Tech direct and also it wouldn't be a bad ideal to contact where you purchased them from to see if they still may honor the warranty if one still exist.

I actually ordered the SVS PB-1000 but maybe prematurely. I left a message with Def Tech to call me back about a fix or info on warranty work. I'd like to check the fuse on the supercube II but I'm not sure how to and if I open it up may loose my warranty. In any event my system sounds terrible with a sub. I didn't realize just how much the sub plays into the whole HT system. There is just no life to the system not, sounds so think and not good. There is no muscle behind the beauty of the sound coming from 5 other channels. Its pretty amazing how much its affected.

Good thing with SVS they give you 45 days to audition there components, I have the Prime Towers and SB 2000 and it's all cream...

Yeah that is what I was thinking. I hate to ship things all over the place wasting SVS's money. I wanted the SB-1000 but there weren't any in the outlet store. The PB-1000 is probably a better overall sub but its a bigger footprint than I want. I am dying to check out an SVS sub though because from all I read and reviews I saw they are pretty incredible, even the lowest price one like the SB/PB-1000.

That's understandable, however if you don't have any other options or opportunities to audition the SVS then it's a no brainer but I strongly doubt that you'll send it back...

If you want great bass from SVS without a big footprint, check out the PC2000 sub. It'll be a lot better than the PB1000 or SB1000.

I am betting when I get that baby in my system and calibrated I will not be able to send it back. You would agree the quality of this sub, the sound quality will be better than the Supercube II right? If that is the case I will be keeping it.

I would love too, but I just spent money on the Def Tech SM65's and stands and just don't want to spend that much more this X-mas. I wasn't expecting to spend money on a new sub at all, but $hit happens right.

It's been a little while since hearing the Supercub ll but SVS is a solid sub and weather you keep it is based on what you hear and enjoy but also factor in room size and if it's a open or close room...

So I called Def Tech on Saturday and left a message clearly stating my SCII died and to please call me back, left my number yes and NO CALL BACK, and it is now Wednesday. I have sent Def Tech 4 emails since Thanksgiving on various Def Tech products and have received nothing except that there is a backlog because they got so many email and that my email was still important. So Def Tech can take their "great customer service" and stick it where the sun don't shine.
I'm glad I ordered the SVS PB-1000, I'm keeping it and will think long hard about buying anything Def Tech again. I missed the delivery of the SVS today, I will get it tomorrow. I did receive the SVS sound path isolation system. It's probably a controversial around here but I had a gift card so it cost me 19 bucks and I live in a condo so its worth the shot. I have never gotten a complaint about the Def Tech sub but I think SVS is a whole other league so I'm giving the isolation system a try.

It's unfortunate that some companies that have a good product get hammered or lose some of there business and customers due to poor customer service, let us know the outcome of your venture...

I'm just tired of being ignored. I feel like Def Tech sold out like a rock band would. When they were smaller, not sold online or at Best buy they actually listened to and answered customer questions. Nothing against online, its awesome and they should be sold that way. Its more of they are trying catch every sale and not pay attention the customer after the sale.

Ok big, big problem. Got the SVS and hooked it up and am getting nothing. Its on, blue light is on but no sound. Could the receiver be the problem? Ever hear of just one channel, the subwoofer going out on the receiver end?

Is there something else that you can hook up to the subwoofer to rule out the source of the malfunction? An ipod or a laptop and a 1/8" to RCA adapter would work, hook it up to the sub and play some bass tones, to see if the problem lies in the subwoofer.

Its not the sub, this is a brand new sub from SVS and the second sub that is not working now. I just replaced the RCA cable and its still not working. I am at a loss, I have no idea.

I have a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver. I just have no idea what could be the problem. Def Tech sub works fine one day, next day it won't trigger on and no sound. Nothing was moved, nothing was touched. I just have no idea what to do? I do not want to replace my receiver.

Maybe it is on the avr side, perhaps a bad solder joint or similar....like shadyj said about trying other sources than just your avr to see if that is indeed the issue.

Yeah I did a factory reset of the Yamaha and guess what, she is working again. Is that not so weird! I'm relieved. Mow I have to do all my settings over tomorrow and give the PB-1000 a workout over the next month and see.
