My set up (for now)

I'm almost ashamed. I've been a member here for a while and never posted anything up here. Probably because I kept telling myself "I'll do it when it's finally finished." Well, that's a fool's dream. I think my system will forever be in a state of flux. So, here it is for the time being. Don't everyone shout at once...yes, I'm using a different brand center from my mains. *gasp* ;) It's out of necessity really. Due to our very small apartment, I had to maximize space. The little Salamander tv stand I ended up with (for space purposes) only allows for something 18" wide or less. And, I already had the LCR60 when it was paired with my DM601's that I sold, so it stayed. I haven't had a problem with it being paired with the Paradigms, but then, I don't do any multichannel music...yet.

Next purchase will be a tv. I've had this one since 98. It's picture is absolutely fantastic, but it's time to get some newer technology in there. The thing is huge and heavy.

Anyhow, here it is for now:

Receiver: Marantz SR8400
DVD/CD Player: Denon DVD-1920
Main Speakers: Paradigm Studio 20's v.3
Center: B&W LCR60 s3
Subwoofer: Velodyne SPL800II
JVC 27" TV
Onix Rack3 component stand
Impact Acoustics Velocity speaker cable
Xbox

Thanks!

For the time being, it's 3.1. It was 5.1 before I moved, but I sold my surrounds on ebay in order to fund my new surrounds. But, the funds are slow in coming. I have to hold on for right now, but in the future, my plan is to buy the Paradigm Studio ADP-470's to sync up with Studio 20 fronts.

Then I'll have to figure out a way to deal with that pesky mismatched center channel. ;) I think what I'll do is, down the road, buy a single Studio 20 and use it as a center.

Looks very nice! I think the single Studio 20 should vield excellent results with your setup.

Thanks Jaxvon.

Yeah, I've read in a few other threads where folks have used the single 20 as a center and some claim that they like that set up even better than a CC470 (or CC570). I have to go that route by default, but I do like knowing that others have done so with good results.

I like it - a lot. Very chic, and neatly done. Love the plant. The lamp is cool, too. Now for that flat screen...

Don't feel bad. I'm still using a 36" FST Cinema Series Toshiba CRT in our main room because I've no where else to put it, and the picture is outstanding. I'm even running an HD-DVR through it, and all I get is 480i. The HD picture is much, much better than a dvd in comparison.

I really like the clean uncluttered look of your set up. Something I am striving for. Since I also have Studio 20s I know that they sound wonderful.

Thanks Buck. Yeah, if anyone's read my threads/posts, you may or may not know that I recently moved to New York...well, Brooklyn really. So space is at a premium, and that chic look is really functional. It helps me and the little lady feel like we actually have some room...which we really don't. That plant is bamboo that we bought in Chinatown (NY) over a year ago. It was a harbinger of things to come, cause now, here we are. And yeah, those old CRT tv's. If you put a little coin into a good one, their picture is fantastic. I have no qualms with its picture...it's just, if we could get something flatter/lighter, it would only help our space issues.

Since I also have Studio 20s I know that they sound wonderful.
Thanks for the comments Nick. Like I mentioned above...the neat uncluttered look is a MUST in our small apartment. :D And yes, I couldn't agree more. I fell in love with the Studio 20's when I heard 'em. I knew they had to be mine.

Your system has a great clean look to it. Not a big fan of clutter myself so I am most impressed with its' look.
Your components are also impressive. Not tons of gear but great quality.
Enjoy.

Thanks Kai. Yeah, the components are about as basic as you can get in terms of quantity; just a receiver and a disc player. But I've been really happy with the Marantz's performace and the player is new, and being that it's universal, covers all the disks I could ever play. The only thing I think I might add is a component style power console. I've got wires everywhere back there and would like to clean that up a bit. We'll see. Funds at this moment need to be directed towards my rear surrounds. I don't have any at the time!

Very nice. Is the Velodyne still working well? I happened to be auditioning a Paradigm Servo-12V2, and it had that same air blowing noise. Definitely annoying.

I like how clean your system is. It all works together with each other and the room.

Yeah, the Velo is chugging along now. After they replaced the plate amp, it's been problem free. I think I just got a bum amp, but luckily they were super cool and had no problems sending another one out, which took all of 5 minutes to put back on. I often think back about my PB10 and how much I liked it...and then I try to imagine it over there in the corner where my little Velo is now. I'm thinkin' that wouldn't work out so well.

Nice
where did you get that sweet Onix Rack3 component stand at?

Right here

It's a great rack. I needed something that was a bit smaller since I don't have a lot of equipment, but one that could also grow should I add equipment. Once you buy this rack, they then sell additional shelves/legs as you need them so you can add on to it.

hi cory,

would it be too much trouble to ask for pics of your studio 20's without the grills? :)
im the type of person who puts a lot of stock on the looks (probably about 51% looks 49% sound) it would be such a great help!

thanks in advance

Nice pictures!

They have those weird inverted woofer surrounds. How do they handle the low end by themselfs?

Cory,

I'd sell that PB-10 back to you if I still had it.;) Setup looks great, amazingly clean. I really need to listen to those studio 20's after all the praise I hear about them
