I just caught this tread. Nice set of speakers, indeed!

My son and I auditioned the Salon2 in SF summer '09, perfectly setup. Well away from ALL walls, with 3 wall panels on each side wall.
The best speakers we ever auditioned, Period.

Until I was in Japan last Oct. Then we heard the JBL Everest II.
But there is just a slight difference in retail price between the Salon2 and Everest II. Revels @ $22K/pr; JBLs @ $60k/pr.

I'd be more than happy with a pair of Salon2. And for MC I still could use my JBL PT800s for surrounds. All Ti drivers.

AcuDefTechGuy nice NEW speakers, PS you need a bigger room. :D
I was thinking the same thing, when I first saw the pics.
When I auditioned them in SF, they were about 5 feet from the sides and 10 feet out from the end wall.

They are my TWO Silverstone Crown cw02 HTPCs. Each one has 6TB HDDs.
Everyone thinks they look like amps or preamps.:D

Just think what a few feet can do to the sound stage.

Yeah, one of these days!:D

I could use a ~ 800sf (20'W x 40'L x 15'H) room. On one side, I could put the KEFs and Salons.

On the other side I could put the Orions.:D

What do you think?

I mean instead of doing 2 separate rooms, just have one larger room.

It certainly can be done. I've got two speaker systems setup in my current living room.

As for having a wide room, there is nothing better for producing a wide, deep soundstage. The room I built in '97 was 17.5 ft wide. And the mains were on an 8ft C/C spread (about a foot to either side of a 65" HD). That left 58" from array CL to the side walls. And I had them more that a foot out in front of the screen. The soundstage was huge, and depending on the recording, many times it seemed to be even wider than the room!

Larger is better and it will work, but the overall problem is, your wife, which room in the house to take over and money for heavy construction :eek:

I've got my 2 channel stuff in a 14wX16Lx11h, but I had to buy the wife a car to get that done since it was the study...

Homie don't play that.:D

Here is how it works. The wife gets to pick what the house looks like on the exterior and how every room, except the HT room, looks like and all that. She gets to pick everything, except the HT room.

Besides, my wife prefers to drive my "left over" cars. I get the new cars.:eek::cool:

All prime numbers :D
I was going to say why all prime numbers.

I thought there was some physics or calculus involved there or something?:D

Like why prime dimensions are acoustically better than even numbers?:D

Acoustics and Room Dimensions

Gut instinct? :eek:
Width = 1.14 x Height or 1.28 x Height or 1.60 x Height

Length = 1.39 x Height or 1.54 x Height or 2.33 x Height

http://www.silcom.com/~aludwig/Room_acoustics.html

So if my room height is 15ft, then the room should be:

24' W x 35' L x 15' H

19' W x 23' L x 15 'H

17 'W x 21' L x 15 'H

So I guess I should have 2 rooms; each room should measure 19' W x 23' L x 15 'H.:D

All prime numbers as you say.:D
