I'll post the complete on and off axis response curves and waterfall(CSD) later on after I process the data files [ETC...]
Yes, but are they BIG speaker s? Will they blow the clothes off of women?

whats that between you legs
I'm so relieved you didn't mention the lack of balls. :D

Wait a minute, what the hell just happened to this poor guys thread? He's been through enough. I guess going to pick them up he drove through the worst snow storm that part of the country has seen in 30 years and he has like zero foul weather driving experience. Jerry, I salute you for staying the course. :)

My bad Alex. Thought the speakers were my former 360's. Oh well, glad to hear you still have them. No telling what they weigh now though. I am sure they are noticeably heavier after your modifications. Nothing wrong with making the cabinets inert imho. :);):)

Cheers,

Phil

On axis, full range frequency response chart (merged graphs):

Off axis, horizontal, 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 degrees:

CSD(waterfall) plot, with 27 dB decay resolution and 3.2msec decay time, matching average Stereophile format for comparison to large database:

Note off axis response is extraordinary compared to the vast majority of systems. Combined with the ultra-low resonance characteristic of this design, this system has the potential to exceed the realistic perceived reproduction capability of the vast majority of monopolar speaker systems, regardless of cost.

In addition to the above properties, this system also has substantial dynamic range capability as a result of the JL Audio W7 low frequency drivers and 2 x 6.5" midbass drivers operating from 100Hz-450Hz in each cabinet, thus concentrating substantial linear displacement capability for the spectrum of music that has the highest ratio of energy. In addition, this is a fully active system, with an individual amplifier channel dedicated to each speaker band. 250 watts to each tweeter, 250 watts to each mid-range, 350 watts to each mid-bass cluster and 450 watts to each woofer. These power ratings are based on the 20Hz-20,000Hz full band power response of each amplifier(1Khz rating is much higher). This gives a total of 2600 watts to the system, or 1300 watts per stereo channel, making this system virtually un-clippable and ready to handle playback of virtually any recording with ease.

For those not up to date on this project: this project was originally contracted by Matt34. Through reasons not relevant to this thread, the speaker was sold twice, eventulaly ending up on Jerry Love's possession. The original contractee specified the veneer type/finish and the specification to retain the original Primus's front baffle color/design.

The speaker is a Primus in historical representation only. Modifications are so radical that this is a completely new speaker design/system that converts what was originally a budget speaker into a high end performance monopolar speaker system that will compete with ANY price range of speaker system.

Rather amazing performance Chris! I bet they sound fantastic! Your build skills are quite good as well. I think that was the first photo I saw with the veneer.

Sorry I've been away. Star-Trek Online is out and has been eating all of my time.

I got my Behringer fixed (well, enough for listening: some lights are still out), dealt with the usual SNAFUs and have been doing some critical and recreational listening this week.

Given my anal-retentive nature: I'll start a new thread, and open it with the graphs, pics, impressions, and story of these... unless I really like the ship I get when I make Captian in STO and become distracted from posting :D

congrats, i hope you have a camera!

when will you get it?

this pair of speakers changed hands so many times, it's nickname is *...

very very nice response graphs from those speakers....

Extremely well done modification.... No wonder it takes so much time to make the changes...

Great work WmAx.... Congrats to Jerry...

One more bit of info I think is relevant, and I want to share.

I designed this speaker with no listening. It was entirely engineered objectively. The only listening that took place was simply to insure no obvious mechanical or other audible functional problems existed. Since Jerry was there, he knows this is true, that no listening of music, etc. was used to design the system. Purely measurements; extensive ones, of course. So let's see how Jerry responds to the system when he gets around to reviewing it.
