Now the Wave Radio - THAT is a piece of dung, however.
I couldn't agree more... the first time I actually got to hear one, I couldn't believe that A. people actually think those sound good, and B. they actually spent that much money for something that sounds like absolute garbage.

Let me get this straight, you have the Bose equivalent to a subwoofer (Phhhfft), and it only covers a range the my bookshelf speakers can already do.

Sorry, but Bose isn't anything decent, they are below low-fi and stand for what is wrong in this business. THAT, is where I have beef.

Agreed. I have listened to a few products from them. The 201's, wave radio and ear bud headphones. In all 3 cases these products fall very low in the accuracy department. To comment on the wave radio, the sound that comes from that thing is very colored, it has no features as well... wasn't impressed especially at the price.

Yes, its overpriced. But its far from junk. I would much rather own a bose system than an aiwa, panasonic, durabrand, etc... Those are junk.

And I garuntee my klipsch are far more fatiguing than bose. In fact, I find the Bose sound has a good balance in between laid back and harsh.
Ok I just saw this and I am laughing too hard to continue........

Well duh, the Klipsch can actually play past 16000Hz. If I were to buy a boombox thingy, I'd get a JVC, simply because they're so over the top. Kinda matches me.

Just look at this thing, you could shoot someone with it!

I have to agree that Bose is better than a lot of sourced crap that hits the market. It's expensive and it's not "flat" but it's not as bad as some HTiB systems or Wal-mart specials I've heard. Perspective would be a good thing for our forum readers to have when talking about Bose products.

Comparing quality to price, the Wave Radio has one thing over most clock radios: it does actually sound better than most of them. The price is ridiculous though, I inherited a CD Wave Radio (old top loading one) and while it's definitely the best sounding clock radio I've owned (or really listened to), I understand there are some alternatives in the $150 range which may sound a bit better.

I think the Bose systems are the dung, simply because of how astronomically high their pricing is and how poor their clarity is. Since there are so many much better sounding alternatives for much less, I'd say they're an even worse value than the Wave Radio.

$20 is no biggie, if you like the way it sounds that's all that matters. Most people who buy bose don't care about the sound. It's the looks (cute, small speakers) and the name they are interested in. They are the same people you see at the bar buying Grey Goose Vodka in their white russian.....Overpriced junk with good marketing sells, simple as that.

I'd just like to add that Bose also makes ENC (electronic noise cancellation) Aviation Headsets. They are also utter crap. But of course, they sell well because Bose takes out lots of adds in industry magazines (AOPA Pilot & Flying in particular).

I've used them, and have many collegues who swear by them. To me, they are built flimsy and don't surpress noise as well as the wide array of cheaper-priced alternatives.

Just my $0.02 :D
