Hi everyone,

Just want to introduce my new budget system that will be an upgrade from my computer based system that include:
M-Audio AV-40 plug to my Ibasso D7 DAC.

My new system is now sitting on my new DIY AV cabinet waiting for cable to be delivered from monoprice (I'll let you know how it sounds when everything will be wired) the system components are:

Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver
Ibasso D7 DAC/Headphone amp
Q Accoustics 2020 bookshelf speakers
Yamaha YST-SW012 subwoofer

What do you guys think of this setup?

My computer audio system is also very affordable. I have a pair of EMP bookshelf speakers ($225), a BIC 10" subwoofer ($150) and a small Class D integrated amplifier ($65.) The sound is actually impressive given the modest cost. Hope yours works out well.

My sub has all of those things and real binding posts instead of clips. It is called the BIC V1020.

To the OP, what source are you using besides the radio? The system in my signature is also fairly modest. Peace and goodwill.

Welcome! Are you in the UK? The sub you have has hardly any connections/controls/auto turn off on the back. I'd suggest this sub instead: http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-800-8-80-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-627
I am in Canada, I know that my sub have no control (other than volume) and almost no connection but my receiver/amp has a rca sub out and I can handle the crossover with the onkyo.

Thanks for the suggestion

I don't plan to use the radio much. I use flac file from my laptop through my Ibasso Dac

I did a small desktop one myself recently and it sounds great, but I need a sub. There was a JBL on sale for 80 and when I was ready to by it as a Xmas gift to myself the price went up to 129. :( Be sure to post some pics when you set it up. I like the setup table looks cool.

I will for sure and let you know how my yamaha sub perform (could be an option for your system)

I did the table myself ... its cheap ($50) easy to do (6 concrete blocks, 2 16"×60" piece of pine, a bit of wood stain) and it looks kind of cool

I don't think the Onkyo TX-8020 has a crossover or level control for the subwoofer channel. It's most likely a mixed output of stereo left & right. It might have a LPF of 200Hz if you're lucky.

You are right about the crossover (my bad) the volume can be control directly on the yamaha sub and the receiver has a bass control knob to tweak the bass output.

I hope I will be able to blend the bass from the sub in my overall sound with those controls ... I'll report when everything wull be wire!

Interesting little setup. :) I like it. I really like the ratio of speaker to the rest of the equipment as it relates to cost/performance.
