Definately a nice setup. If I may suggest somewhere down the road try experimenting with a nice 5 Channel power amp. I have found RBH speakers to truly sing with the best of amplification. Not to say the Denon AVR-3805 is a slouch, but you owe it to yourself to feed them a dedicated amp section, especially since they are all moderately sensitive 4 ohm speakers.

Also, i am wondering why you faced the 1266 woofers in? Did you find them to integrate better this way in your setup?

I do plan on an amp or two down the road,.... I'd first like to replace the Sony DVD then I'll look at amps. The first time I heard a set of 1266SE's they were hooked up to an Acurus set up and did sound better than with my Denon.
I tried the 1266SE with the woofers facing out and in,... for my room it seemed to sound better facing in. Is there a reason why facing out should be better?

Facing out usually works better to avoid cancelling especially when in close proximity. However you need to figure a way to blend the mains with the sub and not have an excessive bass bump or cancelling within the overlapping bandwidth of the two. Its not easy (though not impossible) which is why I switched over to a satellite / subwoofer system such as the T2 system.

For the time being, you may wish to experiment and cross over all speakers at 60Hz and let the sub handle the rest. You may find better bass integration and increased headroom for your receiver.

I ecourage you to get the Rives disc and an SPL meter at the very minimum to do some measurements as per our article:

I have been playing around with the large/small settings, crossover settings, and sub phase adj,... been thinking about a disk (Audio video essentials, Avia, S&V HT tune up etc) and learning a little more about speaker set up. I do have a RS spl meter. I have also considered an RBH SA400 for the bottom of the 1266's, dunno,.... have to think about it some more ;-)

I really like your speaker placement and the lack of clutter. You have given your system plenty of room to breathe and your center channel is close to ear level. Very important!!!!

Clean installation. It seems the better the installation (hiding of wires), the simpler the system looks and it really masks all the hard work that it took to make it look like that.

I love the no grills. Grills are for girls.. or if you have cats who like to scratch, but then I would have cats who don't have paws.....


It is not my style at all, but, I can really apreciate it. I've never heard those but they look like the NHT classics styles from a while back. I love the new classic 4's (and 3's) if they are at all similar you must be one happy man.
