My left speaker is louder than my right.
1. I have switched the audio cords and they are fine.
2. I have switch which speakers inputs and the loudness moved to the right (speakers ok).
3. I have used the radio on the pre-amp in my turntable and it plays evenly. So somewhere between my record to the TT pre-amp I am losing loudness for my right speaker. The balance on the used TT doesn't seem to do anything no matter which way I turn it.

I am out of ideas.

What do you guys think?

So, I gather that your loudness issue is with the TT playback?
Either that balance control is frozen and skewed to the louder channel as its movement has no effect, or the cartridge is defective but in the latter case, it would seem to me that the balance control would at least have some effect on it.
So, I would see if you could replace that balance control?

I don't think there is a place to get it repaired around here. I might try to open it up and look around.

Any other ideas?

If you poke in there, see if you can swap the right and left leads from the cartridge out either at the cartridge or to the preamp.

What would that do. Also you are the only person who has been helping me. Thank you.

That would eliminate the connections and leads to the preamp as the culprits and point to the cartridge issue since the preamp is fine with other sources.
This may be an easier test before jumping on replacing the cartridge.
I try to help where I can. I had a TT many years ago but not for some time now so I have limited info to try.

I gather you have a turntable with built in preamp. So the problem could be the cartridge or the preamp. You say the turntable has a balance control which does not work, so likely there is something wrong with the preamp.

What is your turntable, and can you find a link to a circuit for it and or a service manual?

If the preamp is at fault which I suspect, then you best bet is to take the output from the arm to another external preamp. If the unit is old and no circuit is available it may be hard to fix this, without purchasing an external preamp.

He did say this 3. I have used the radio on the pre-amp in my turntable and it plays evenly.

Not sure what he really means by this but assumed the preamp works ok. That assumed will get me in trouble;):D
