My latest addition to my growing PC sound system has been a new subwoofer. For under $80 (shipping included) I built a pretty solid little sub that adds some decent thump to music and games. It hits down to 30Hz, compared to my old sub which would bottom out at 40.

I purchased the Foster plate amp from here for just $32:

And paired it with the $23 Dayton SD215-88 8" driver.

My finished sub measures 11.5W x 13.5H x 16D.

My computer setup:

My new sub, with the old one for comparison:

There are screws on top because I don't have enough clamps, I had to use a combination of both to hold it together until the glue dried.
I haven't decided if I will finish it yet. I may just throw some carpet on it.

Very nice.

That will give games some impact :)
Did you modelled the box? What are the specs?

Yeah, I used WinISD. The plate amp I used has 6db of boost at 35Hz, which made it tough to get a flat fr. It did however, allow me to use a much smaller enclosure. Without the built in boost I would have needed a box about 1.5 ft^3, the boost allowed me to make the box just .8 ft^3.

You seem to have space for a bigger sub. What are you waiting for?:D
