That JL W6v2 is near identical to the Kappa 12VQ in all ways related to function and quality - so it's a fitting replacement for the now discontinued VQ. You should love the performance!

I really like how it's coming along. I'm doing the same build just at a much slower pace with a tc sounds 12" driver. Are you laminating it before staining? or are you keeping the seams?

Nearly identical accept price. Thing is double the cost. Still a really great looking build.

I wonder how the Shiva 12 X2 will model and sound?

Function over form, right? :)

In the future, I suppose you could use veneer (and perhaps a healthy dose of bondo and sanding around the rough looking port openings) to make it look nice.

i kinda screwed up with the router. i didn't adjust the depth right and it took off way to much! that was my repair! LOL... hopefully, it doesn't affect the sound...

You'd be best to build a separate grill frame. And use dowels to mount in the corners. I don't plan to add grills. But I may need something when we have kids.

Here she is done for now! (i may think about laminating over the stain)
This thing sounds awesome! currently i have it in the middle of the room and it still bangs! I cannot wait for the stain to fully dry so i can corner load it.
It may not be the best build but i can say i built it! Not bad for a non-carpenter... (i think)

That looks very nice. I can't believe how big that thing is, but I bet it pounds. I'm trying to convince my friend to build a pair of those since he has a couple 12W6V2s lying around unused.

What are you using to power it?
