They'reeee heeeeeerrreeeee {yup, that is a poltergeist reference, that lil' girl spooks me still and I'm almost an adult now}...

OK, anyway, yes my Jade 5 towers are here, I unboxed them and they are SEXY.

I hooked them up since I already had everything waiting to go, just needed the towers....

I am having some crossovers made {fmod style}, but for now I have them hooked in full range with the subs crossed at 65..

I am powering them with 2 Carver ma202 amps {same as apa150, bpa-1, and jamo mpa-201, except 200watts when bridged}... And I have a pair of the 12" 300watt wharfedale subs {in matching black oak} with them..

I plugged an i20 dock into the amps for a signal and played some test tones to adjust the levels between both amps {they each have volume controls so I figured they may be different, but they were identical}...

When I started the music, I kept the subs off. These sound great, I am very happy... Their low end is definitely all there, the mids and highs are really defined and warm, the entire package gives you a really nice neutral sound...

I heard them before but never in my house, I am super happy...

I have to admit I never seen a speaker that could care less when it came to placement... Straight on, angled in, pointed at the wall, they still sound awesome....

I threw the subs on and balanced them out, and they sound great {I have 4 of these subs, so knew what to expect, just a basic 12" sealed 300w sub, they are really fast and clean...
After about an hour of listening I shut it down and put the grills back on, then I said "hey Ill try it with the grills" since they dont cover the tweets they hardley make a difference on or off, that was good to know...

But anyway, I'm so glad I got these... My new favorite speaker, I wish I could play them for everyone....

It's a shame that you don't seem to enjoy your new toys :D

But as Adam implies, if there is no picture, it didn't happen :p

I don't need to see picts because I have seen the real ones and they do look beautiful. I have never auditioned them except for some vintage bookshelf models. If you find them sounding beautiful too that's great. Congratulations!

I forgot I took a pic with my phone before I moved everything into position and plugged it all in....

Them little Carver amps, sound really clean, and have plenty of power to drive most speakers, I have a few of these and they are a little more powerful than the apa150's but the sound quality is identical... These were originally designed by Emotiva {bpa-1} then Jamo picked them up {2 models 50x2 and 75x2}, then Dayton {75x2}, and I believe Carver is the only one who did 100X2....

When I get the crossovers made and installed before the amps, it will free up a lot of power since they won't be trying to reproduce the low stuff {although I didnt have to turn them up past 30% to get them real loud}, that is where you really notice the differences between 2.0 and 2.1 {or 2.2 in this case}, if you don't cross the towers and use a sub it makes the bass seem too complicated {for lack of a better word}..
I will be running these with the subs off, until I get the crossovers in.. I borrowed a set from my other system, but just for testing purposes, Im having these done a little different than them...

Well there is one pic, Ill get more after... I still have to get the x-overs obviously, and make some amp stands.... I'm thinking 2" black walnut, and add a little silver to the black stain {tried white to lighten it up before, what a mistake that was looked like milky grey wood, silver works good though}....

Oh, and also Im having WD send me some matching name plates since the subs and towers have different logo designs {can't have that}....

I know the Jades are expensive, but they sound really good, and I think they are onto something with how they ported this cabinet, as far as the materiel, if I compare it to my evo2 cabinets, I cant tell a difference in sound {except the obvious difference in sound} but I dont here the cabinets either way, I think MDF is as good as anything else they are going to come up with, fancy plastics may just confuse things....

MORE TO COME.... I'm going to do some A/B comparing with the other speakers in the house this weekend using the xpa2, and Ill have a better idea of if Im going to keep them or not ;) lol.... I dont think I can complain, $2150 --for 2 subs, 2 towers, and 2 amps {all brand new} not too shabby considering the speakers are $3200 alone...

I have been listening to the jades and they are sound even better after a long session, but since emotiva is having a sale, and I like how they sound with my xpa2 and I want to use the carver mono blocks with my bookshelfs I ordered another xpa2 to power the jades, I know this is over kill, but I hate to pass up the sale...
