philips dvp642 dvd
yamaha htr-5790 receiver
theater research tr-2800 speakers
theater research tr-2801 speakers

I plan on adding 2 more back speakers and a subwoofer. Im also going to return the infocus and get the infocus 4805 and add either an 80 or 100in screen.

update

I just added a panasonic hi-fi vcr that I got at walmart for a really good price. Friday Im going to look at speakers and subs, so I hope that night I will have my home theater pretty much finished.

I want to know if anybody else either owns or heard of theater research speakers. I have checked all of the forums and couldnt find anything about them. I just have to say that they are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard and I got them at a fantastic deal $299.99 for 5 speakers. :D

update #2

Added the following to my home theater:
Athens AS-P400 subwoofer :D
2 JBL E10 Northridge E series (for surround speakers)

Now Im thinking of adding some presence speakers. I want to know if it would be alright if I used my old cube bose speakers or should I buy new speakers? If no could sombody recommend some nice ones that didnt cost too much?

As for the projector I narrowed it down to 3:
BenQ 8230
Panasonic PT-L500U
Infocus screenplay 4805

If anybody can give me any advise on which one would be best please help. The only things I would be using it for would be watching dvds, directv and playing some games.

thanks for looking

ps when I get a digital camera Ill post some pics

projector choice

When choosing a projector, test that it works fine with the output of PC video cards (such as the ATI AIW 9800 Pro, which has component video output). Certain projectors, even though they say they support HDTV (and you'd be automatically lead to believe they'll work fine with any component video source) do not work well with outputs from PCs.

The way forward for Home Theaters is to have it hooked up to a PC, so if you're gonna be spending $$$ on a projector, you might as well make sure that it works well with something you will find yourself buying soon, a Home Theatre PC.

I unfortunately found out about this the expensive way.

done at last

infocus 4805 w/ 72 in screen
2 theater research tr-2800 speakers (front)
theater research tr-2801 speaker (center)
2 JBL E10 Northridge E series (presence)
4 Klipsch Synergy III 5-1/4" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (surround & back)
Athens AS-P400 subwoofer
yamaha htr-5790 receiver
LG Progressive-Scan Multiformat DVD Player (model: LDA-511)
rca directv
playstation 2
Also using 2 old bose speakers for fronts as well.

The projector, dvd player & playstation 2 are hooked up threw the receiver with component video (directv is S-video). Also have coaxial digital audio run from the dvd to receiver.

I think you got a lot of components right. Some choices I wouldn't have gone for but much of this is all personal taste. If you like the way it all sounds and looks then I think you should be very happy. Congrats.

packers037,

How come you ended up dropping down on screen size or did you just stay with a screen you had? Also, where's the pics?

Takeereasy: Thanks. For now Im happy. Im slowly getting rid of the theater research speakers (not as good as what I thought).

Doug917: The 76 in screen went back with the 4800. I was just testing it out to see if I liked a front projector. At the time I couldnt afford the 4800 is why I took it back. As for the pics when I get my room finished Ill take some.
