Darn, I don't like to hear that, as I am waiting on my XPA-5 here... Shipping 2/15... Hoping it is ALIVE and WELL. EMO tells me they burn-in for 8 hrs. but Nick at EMO did not know the temps of burn-in. Sometimes it can be a weak component that gets zapped during install if ESD is around the assembly line. Have EMO give you specifics what went wrong with it. Hope I don't have any probs.

I had to send my B&K 7270 back to the factory three times for warranty repairs.

Of course at my cost for shipping on an +80 pound amp...:mad::mad:

Sounds like you should call EMO, and ask them why you can't just replace the Slow-Blow Fuses -- I think they are 10Amp SB fuses -- then if any of them blows again, then I would send it back. Do you see any charred or black carbon on any of the boards? If so, not a good sign. EMO will help for sure.
i did replace the fuses. they didn't blow, but the amp didn't make sound.
the lights came on though.

i looked it over pretty good. only sign of damage was the fuses.

not only that, i "discreetly marked" all of the components .

myself, i think the amplifier power supply blew.

I always find it totally insulting that companies claim to back their products 100% yet it costs you $60 (box and shipping) to have them replace something that should not have broken in the first place.

I don't know, it's just a matter of principle to me. You bought the amp, you paid for it and I don't think it's an outlandish idea that you'd expect the equipment to last at least a few years before it breaks. Now you have to pay to have them fix their problem. I just find that absurd.
I agree. I think most people agree.

Is there a company that would pay for shipping to them?

Even Bryston, who charges you $$$ on their amps will make you pay for shipping to them.

I think the only way around this is to buy from a company that has at least one authorized repair center in your town.

For example, if I live in Dallas, California, or New Jersey, etc., I could easily bring my Denon to their Denon Repair Centers around town. Then there would not be any shipping charges.

I had to send my Optoma HD81-LV projector to Optoma 3 times as well, and I had to pay for shipping to Optoma in California each time.

Remember folks, that dealers also have to figure these shipping costs into their business model - if the product has issues.... all things to be considered when slamming a high end dealer for not giving enough of a discount.....

its all hooked up and working. i watched ULTRAVIOLET. the sound track seemed muffled = the music sounded good, but the action was toned down. didn't feel right. the VQ was great ! tons of eye candy !!!

check this out. i hooked it up and was testing. when i switched the source, the amp would go into protect mode. i was like wtf. i unhooked 1 channel rca ( 20 year old monster cable, but still looks fine), didn't do it. i swapped in a cheapo rca, no problem.

so, now i need to get some good rca's.

no. though they are both monster. i bought them 20ish years ago when i was doing car audio. and besides. when i was trouble shooting the bad amp, i had many different cables in there. AND i also used another receiver as an amp.

Completely off subject, but Justsome I think you told me once before you lived in Lockport as well, did you get to experience the 4hr snow removal I did after the Blizzard?
