I think I just located someone (babak147 on AVS) at least as crazy as I.

He lives in Westchester, NY.

He recently bought demo Salon2 for $11K.

Now he just bought demo B&W 800D for $15K.

He also bought a Crown XLS 2500 amp. I have 2 of those myself.

He said he was thinking of using the 800D for 5.1 movies and Salon2 for music only.

You have to admit that he is a great bargain shopper - $26,000 for a pair of Salon2 and 800D2 speakers (both demos).

Interestingly enough (maybe), I paid $26,000 for pair of Salon2 and 802D2, but both brand new.

He got a much better deal overall. So I'm a little jealous there - not that my room even has another INCH for anything bigger than what I have.

Maybe it's a good thing my room isn't bigger.

Then I might have ended up with Salon2, 800D2, & 207/2.

Okay, so maybe I am just a little crazier than he is.

But at least I have enough experience to know that a good AVR will sound just as good as any preamp out there.

He's thinking of using a Denon 4311 for his B&W 5.1 and a separate preamp + Crown XLS2500 for his Salon2.

Thank goodness we spend all of our spare resources on drum kits and vibraphones, so I don't have to worry about placement of a harem of speakers.

Drum kit #3 arrived Wednesday. Perhaps you and my wife have the same illness, just in slightly different phase.

Nah, musicians are the same as you. One of the other band members who plays the sax has about six of them. Why have six saxophones? The same reason you have so many speakers. My wife has a ll sorts of excuses why you need different kinds of drum kits for different kinds of music, but I think it's all just an excuse to collect drums. They are pretty...
