Does anyone know what the best way would be to increase the power output of a solid state amplifier namely my carver Pxm450 any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated

It's feeling lonely. Get it another amp to play with.

Seriously?

Replace it. It ain't easy increasing the power of an amp without re-engineering it from the ground up.

I do have another amp playing with it. It's a crest audio Vs450 and has a lot bigger power rating so I think the carver is jealous. I think I might just have to replace the carver with a crest and use the carver for my center. Thanks for your input
