Clint has found that you can buy the best equipment, have the greatest seats, and the biggest screen. But if you're picking up and dropping various remotes to demo your system in front of your friends, you're only going to succeed in making them wonder why anyone would go through all that trouble. Sure, you may be impressed that you know which remote goes to what and how to get everything to operate as it needs to - but your friends will be focusing on you instead of the room. Run, don't walk, and get thee to a remote control that really works. Find out if the MX-950 Aurora remote control fits the bill.

compared to...

So, how is this one compared to their MX-850 Aeros remote? Close or distant? It also has the IR/IF capability, but the look and feel of the MX-700... and waaaay cheaper than the MX-950.

Anyone used MX-850 and can provide a review on it?? This 950 model is ridiculously expensive!!!

Thx!

I agree strongly that Universal doensn't do a very good job of keeping up with the latest device code. They still don't have the 5805 or any of the new Mits. 1080p DLP sets.
I will admint that the universal browser that allows you to look at stuff from ccf files is useful but it only allows you to copy the commands that have been learned, not stuff from the pronto ir database or stuff entered through the hex editor and it contains no way of entering the hex directly even from equipment manufactures that provided it (Yamaha for instance).

jzac - I love my MX-850 (well all three of them). I use them in conjunction with the MF-250 to control a central equipment room from anywhere in the house (still working out some of the bugs).

3 of them?! wowser! :D Good to know... I ordered for one a couple of days ago with the MRF-250 station... based on what I read in other places too it seems very good for the money, and should serve my purpose. Yeah, I can't justify buying any kind of remote for $700 no matter how good it is!
