House of Flying Daggers is a must for HT enthusiasts!

The color, sound, and in particular the base (on the dancing game scene in particular) are amazing. I use this as a demo for setting up all of my HT installs. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a great test DVD. Better than the Fifth Element in my opinion.

Here are some titles that are a bit more uncommon (except for two) and can make even an inexpensive home theater system look and sound great for guys, chicks, or kids:

Beatles' Yellow Submarine - great colors/sound
Chronicles of Riddick - true sci-fi
Eagles - Hell Freezes Over Tour - great sound
Finding Nemo - all ages
K2 - wear a parka while watching
The Man From Snowy River - a chick flick for real men
Master And Commander - ultimate guy flick
The Mummy - ah, what the heck, it's fun
The Princess Bride - a chick flick for more real men
Thomas Crown Affair - Remake starring Pierce Brosnan / Renee Russo with great "real" special effects - chick flick for adult men

Some of my titles that have been played many times. The price paid gets cheaper every time I watch them.
1- John Carpenters,"The Thing"
2-Pink Floyd's, "Pulse" concert recorded at Earls Court. My copy is only DPL- stereo. Soon to be released in a 5.1remix.
3-Janet Live in Hawaii. Great video. 4.1dd, 5.1dd, 5.1dts audio.

4-Finding Nemo, I think this is the most visually stunning movie. It kinda blurrs the line between cartoon & real under water reef scenery. The audio pulls you into the story.

I didn't think the first version was worth getting. A decent movie, but not one to add to my collection.

Chronicles of Riddick is very good quality from an AV perspective...the movie is not for everyone but on a 100" screen through my setup it has never failed to impress a viewer

Do they make that in a DTS version? I want to pick it up but found I generally like the mixing of DTS better... yeah yeah I know they story between bits and samenes of compression... what can I say? I'm biased, lol.:D

Edit: Also... was thinking about getting the Trilogy pack thats out... any experience with that?

Speaking of Star Wars, what's so special about the most recent re release. It was about a year ago I think that I got what I thought was supposed to be the pinnacle of the original Star Wars releases.

It's another way for Lucas to get some more of your money. ;) Many fans of the original movies have been demanding for years that the original theatrical version be released. Some of them don't liket the additional CGI footage that was added to the movie.

Personally, none of it bothers me, with the exception of making the bounty hunter shoot at Han Solo first from about 3 feet away and miss him by about 5 feet. That was just plain stupid. Plus I liked the character better when he starts out as a total A-hole then changes.
