Just don't over-do it as you will start to lose port output.
dont have ports...its a sealed box.

I was looking to only stuff polyfill in the box. Should I line the the walls too? Read some reviews on parts express and confused now, since some say yes to wall and some say not needed.
And pillow stuffing is what I intend to purchase. This is fine I presume?

Polyfill is a specific type of stuffing. I have a bag and it literally says polyfill on it. Stuff the box plenty, but don't go crazy. For a box that size I used about half a bag and it works great, I'll have to grab the weight of the bag I've got. I believe it is a 2lb bag.

Hey Grant,

Where can I read up on some independent stuff about the Hypex amps. I don't really have any speaker projects planned and wanted to play around with something else.

Thx,
Mark

P.S. I like their website but just looking for some more 3rd party stuff.

did a dry run of one sub with 2 drivers, not screwed in, just held it with hands. Used a laptop headphone out to amp in. Room was 25x14x11.
Dial was at 50-60%. I expected it to be a lot more powerful.

I also connected one PSB B5 to the other channel, and my receiver plays it much louder when volume is around -20dB. Am i missing something? If crown throws out about 500W at 4 ohm, how is that the Marantz plays it louder?

I had a feeling that the source was the problem. And that was it. Since I had connected laptop headphones to the Crown, the input level was quite low. I sent the same source to aux in of marantz and fed the preamp out to the crown and used the gain control on marantz. Was much better

Still have to screw the drivers of the sub in, then can try out one sub.

Some snaps of my build

One sub is done. Only aesthetic finishing and polyfill stuffing is remaining. Letting the silicon settle in in the other two subs. Should be up tomorrow.

I havent heard any subs before except during auditions. So this is my first sub :). Here is what I have tried. This time my connections were right. Placed the sub in the front next to the towers. But the volume on the sub was still low. I gave a 10dB boost at the AVR (Does the receiver also boost LFE by 10 dB, without running audyssey?). I get to hear it come alive slowly from about 40% - 50% of volume on Crown. About 60%-75% it starts to pound. Is this normal and expected? (Also, at times, it begins to distorts above 75%).

The sub is tight, and mostly accurate. It is far from being boomy. Sometime I hear it distort a bit, mostly at louder volumes. Maybe polyfill could help. So far it sounds really good. Thanks a lot for the build!! :)

However, i feel it lacks a bit in volume/punch. I could be mistaken here. When I tried the test tone from amp, for the sub it was playing a different tone (as expected), but the sub volume was way lower than the remaining speakers. A 10dB boost still didnt come to the loudness level that the fronts was throwing out.

here are a few snaps of the build.

There is a strip of rubber kind of material that came along with the driver, which can stick. It's length is about the circumference of the driver. Wondering what is this for? Should it sit between driver and the panel on which it rests?

Looks awesome! Great build and congrats.

I have to say it though, it's driving me nuts that the "infinity" logo isn't horizontal :D

if you noticed, it is vertical. The screws are in the right place. still have work to do so I just screwed it in to check it out. But the other subs, I dont think are horizontal :(

You may want to try something like the Art CleanBox Pro. It will convert consumer level to pro-audio levels.

With my Denon it is required.

I'm pretty sure that material is supposed to go between the driver and the cabinet. My guess is that is helps it make an air tight seal.

When I built my first one I thought it was pretty quiet, but it got louder as it broke in and I've turned my pair down to even with my other speakers at about 65% up on the 300W Bash amp I'm using. Sometimes I'll bump it up anywhere from +2 to +4 for music, but anywhere above +1 seems to be overpowering the rest of my system for TV & movies. I think it took a week or two to break in fully.

My second sub is ready. Have added few more snaps...

Heard it for a short while, sounds really good for music. 2 subs placed in opposite ends of room. DIY turned out really well. Glad I tried this out. I havent tested it for movies though.

I had to use in bandpass mode. Room was * energizing* too much.
Also, I set channels levels of fronts to -12dB then increased the volume on the sub. The room seems to be creating quite a bit of noise. There are some regions where i can hear sound coming from, like in one instance in the next room, glass was vibrating big time and creating music on its own :D.

My initial observation was right.
The reason I was facing inconsistencies was because one channel in the amp has some issue. It barely drives my second sub. I noticed when I ran some HT stuff with low bass and the driver excursion was missing in one sub. I switched the subs and later tried switching the input channels. The right channel does not drive as much as the left. This is why I was not happy with my subs output initially.

Am taking the amp back tomorrow.

Dude, that rocks. It's awesome. Congrats :)
The sub really rocks. You're the man!

Heard a few other subs which cost quite a bit in the last couple of days. This one is really tight. Hats off to you for suggesting this one. I read other posts of you in other forums, everywhere you suggest this driver, since you were so confident thought I'll try this one :D.
Glad i didnt try with some dayton driver or TC Sounds that i was being suggested. For my room this is more than sufficient. Also, It would have cost me way lot more after shipping to India.

Got my amp exchanged. With the second sub working now, 2 subs really rocks. Pounds like crazy in my room.
I played some HT material, and I was scared the drivers were goners cos they had so much of excursion in some scenes. Gun shot scenes were the best!

What would you recommended to protect my drivers? Any rule of thumb, anything other than watch out for distortion?
