Well if your sound is clipping now, it is really degraded. It does not come in a more degraded form than voltage clipping. So if you prevent clipping with those two resistors in each of those line attenuators, then you will upgrade your sound.

I have a strong feeling you have been sniffing audiophool glue almost to the point of unconsciousness, and are in urgent need of detoxification before it is terminal!
I didn't know whether to click "like" or "agree", but then I went with "funny" since I lol'd at the end... :p

I'm just having some fun. Thanks everyone for all the specs. and answers. So now the conundrum. Waiting for the Yamaha RX A2080 or Denon AVR X4500 to go on sale with the new models coming out. That will be quite a jump up from those old avr's.

Both are good units....depends if you even need the different features for a newer avr....biggest would usually be 4k/Atmos type features. Some of the old ones had beefier power supplies/amp sections....what's the whole system encompass?

Only 5.1. A Denon DVD3910, Denon DBT1713ud, the Musical Fidelity M1CDT, Boston Acoustics VS260 for front mains, Energy Veritas 2.0 for center, a couple Energy dipoles and Energy xEL12 for the sub. Old school. My son gave me some expensive Audioquest cables.

Well Audioquest cables are mostly bullshit so not much value there. The rest sounds quite usable. Maybe a sub upgrade first.

I first need an avr. But I agree on cables. A gift is a gift. Also a good sub would help. It's only money. I think I'll be selling my dac.
