Music much louder than Voices

Hi,

I recently purchased a Sony HT-XT1 Sound Bar for my Sharp LC-39LE551U HDTV because when I play movies on Plex or Netflix, the music is much louder than voices. However, I still have this problem even after buying the sound bar. For some reason this doesn't seem to be an issue for anything on TV (over the air). Maybe I just notice it since I don't really watch movies on broadcast TV.

How do I fix this issue? It's so annoying. Should I go into my TV menu and adjust the equalizer? I'm not sure if that will adjust the sound since it's now going through my sound bar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no solution to this for a sound bar without modifying the sound bar. Any equalization you do will affect the entire sound bar. Those of us with separate speakers for left, center, right can adjust the relative volumes between them. You have uncovered one of the many compromises in using a sound bar.
