Well, it's been awhile since I've had the place to myself. I've almost forgotten how much I enjoy listening to Mahler/Brahms with a glass of red wine. Simply spectacular!
Turn the lights down. Turn the music up. Nothing like Mahler 5 or Brahms 4 to make you really appreciate life and think about the frailty of humanity.

Hi, Pat,

I enjoy loud music, but my gf doesn't. (I should point out that I like loud, but not ear-damaging loudness.) Luckily, my gf has a job that usually requires her to work late, far beyond normal quitting times. When I finish my work, I'll often put on loud music. If I'm not in the a/v room--I might be in the adjacent kitchen, for example--I'll crank it extra high, so I can hear it well while I clean. And as for the wine, yes, sometimes I'll drink a glass or two as I enjoy the loud music.

My listening choices? It might be Mahler--or any other classical composer (my faves are Beethoven, Prokofiev...gosh, it's quite a list...). It might be classic rock. It might be international--I'm listening to Manu Dibango right now (listening to him LOUD, since my gf isn't here). It might be jazz...

Wine? White gives my gf headaches, so we almost always drink red. I don't like high tannins. Other than that I'm open. Spanish wines and wines from Australia and New Zealand never dissapoint. I toured Bordeaux a couple years ago, and still have some bottles from the trip.

Chris

P.S. It's funny. My gf doesn't like loud music--and I'm happy to turn it down once she gets home--but she doesn't mind watching DVDs at almost the same level.

Shok,

Ouch! Though I feel bad that you'll never experience the many, many wines that are delicious, I can feel your pain. In college one year I ate some leftover macaroni salad that my roomies had made day or two before. I got horribly sick, and to this day I have a general dislike for macaroni salad.

Still, I'd rather miss macaroni salad than wine. ;)

You can't go past Led Zepllin's Battle of Evermore or some Jeff Buckley while sitting in the dark with some Bookers' bourbon. It has never failed to soothe the savage beast.:p

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get plastered and work out.

Underage drinking, nice.:D

I have cured myself of hard liquor and Beer, so now all I will tolerate is wine. For some reason Vodka and Gatorade aren't a good combo. I thought it would balance things out, but after just a little of that I felt sick as a dog and only slightly buzzed, just sick. After dry heaving for about one day every time I think of Beer, Vodka, or any other hard liquor I feel like heaving, so I am cured. Maybe I was part of that experiment in "Clockwork Orange". :D

I can't seem to drink Bundaburg. Not that it's making me lose sleep at night but I've never liked it. Can't stand it. And I've never had a 'bad experience' with it. Weird! Now tequila I've had a bad experience with, though I was able to hold off throwing up till a whole day afterwards. Ahh. back in the days...

Heck,i might have a worst one. One night of heavy 151 drinking{how stupit is that},i'm laying face down behind a sofa and i'm dieing for a drink of water but i couldnt get up. All i could do was put my hand up so a friend gave me a glass. I downed it and it came back everyway. He gave me a glass of milk. Ha,ha,ha. I've been a big beliver in sticking to one drink if your having a few.

I think he was referring to shokhead at the high school prom, which would be underage regardless of country.

I had a few last night with the Canucks 5 - 0 victory over Chicago. Grolsch, Shmooth Tasht.
