multiple subs with HTR-5790

I just read “AV123 Rocket UFW-10 Subwoofer Review” by Patrick Hart. $1000.00 for 2 great subs is 2 good an opportunity to let up. But, this excellent article got me thinking on what is the effect of adding multiple subs to a single “sub pre-out”.

I am thinking of getting the Yammy HTR-5790 and 2 UFW's. The 5790 has a single sub pre-out. Is it possible to overload the amp if I split the signal to 2 subs and connect only the RCA "R" on the sub. What about 4 subs if I get two more in the future.

Also, the UFW-10 has the RCA L+R option that can be used with a Y-splitter. Does this increase the load on the amp when using 2 or 4 subs?

Will I kill the a/v receiver if I do something like this?

what the hell do you need 4 subs for.... get a good sub or possibly one of the bidirectional sub with 2 drivers, assuming your looking for the extra push and not just placement of your subs behind you for some reason. if you just get a high quality single driver sub or even bidirectional sub youll be fine for any music or dvd i can think of.... try one of the paradigm servo subs they pack some serious punch for your price range.

4 subs is the theoretical situation. The question remains, will I overload the a/v receiver if I put 2 subs on the sub pre-out? I ask that only because AV123 is giving 2 subs for $1000, compared to 1 for $600.

It is a powered sub. It does not use receiver power. If it is like mine, you use the single lfe/sub out from the receiver to the sub, then lfe/sub out from sub to the next one. The sub has to be close to a outlet because it is "powered".
