Hello, I am building my home theater cause the last "home theater in the box" I bought was plain crap. I have a tight budget so I found in CIRCUIT CITY some tower speakers called MPX monitor with 10 " woofer ,6 1/2 " midrange and tweeter. Anyone knows something abouth these speakers? I plan on getting the mpx surrounds (bookshelf) and center channel. How would these "budget" speakers sound?

How much for the entire system? You may get comparables from our viewers if you tell them what you are looking to pay for those.

hawke: thanks for your reply
My main concern is that for front speakers I am thinking of buying tower speakers with 10 woofer and a 6 1/2 midrange plus tweeter. Someone told me it was better to buy a tower speaker with (2) 6 1/2 woofer and tweeter . I actually want the speakers because of the bass cause I am more into music but I want to know if this tower is bad for movies. (having 10 woofer) on main speakers. Circuit city offer a pair of these for 300 dollars, 100 for surrounds and 100 for center channel. www.circuitcity.com (under home speakers)
What do you think about these babies? the reviews are 4.6 out of 5 but I want to know opinions from musical experts like you and more people . THANX a lot for your time

I think you would hear a definite improvement over a standard HTIAB system, but I wonder if the improvement would be large enough to justify spending another $500. For the cost of your original system plus this one, you could put together one that would outperform either one by a long shot.

My best advice is to take your time and listen to a lot of different setups at different stores, including high-end audio stores and setups way out of your budget. I think this will give you a better scope of your choices and eventually lead you to a well-informed decision that you are very happy with.

As far as the MTX goes, I've never heard of them. Having a certain size driver (10" in this case) isn't necessarily good or bad for movies. It matters more how it sounds rather than how it's made. Maybe all your testing will lead you back to the MTX after all!
