He makes sure your gutter is clean, doesnt like you to wash down your driveway and he only uses electric edger, mower.
He wants your gutters clean but your driveway filthy?

Construct a 1200cc shovelhead-powered (with fishtail pipes) mower to counteract his eco-friendly electric mower.

Remove your curtains and cool-down after work with naked jazzercise.:D

Funny thread

Be nice, keep the peace, and don't give an inch. People like that arn't right in the head and could cause problems for you down the road but like someone else said if you give in lord only knows what will be next. Your political skills might be tested. Good luck.

Thank you all for the thread of the week!

I think mowing is fine, but if you were using your weed eater while kids are walking past your home, then your neighbour would have a valid point.
Of course i weed wack but i keep an eye out and stop so they can pass. BTW,i'd say during the whole time i'm mowing the front, maybe 3-5 kids go by.

...the guy is full of it...you're probably disturbing his nappy-time or something...How long has he been around? Has this been an ongoing thing? If not, what changed...why now?

IMO all you need to do (really more for your protection) is show some courtesy and common sense...If people are passing by while you work, just stop 'til they pass...either that or get some orange cones and safety tape and establish a temporary work zone around your perimeter...or tell him there are umpteen things you would like not to happen for any number of reasons, but that's life and we all know why space is a vacuum...

I think he's been in that house around 15-16 years. He's retired now for the last couple of years. His daughter and her 2 kids leave there also. Husband left her. I remember when his daughter was in school, she got 100 bucks for each A.

....Shokhead, it sounds like the daughter turned out like dear ole' dad....this person is the type who wants to run EVERYTHING that might fall into the realm of touching their life in ANY way....I would act like he never said a word and mow when I saw fit as long as it was between the hours of say, 8am to 8 pm....if he comes over or calls to try again, tell him you actually want to get along with him, but he needs to find someone else to be co-dependent over....if he gets insistent, tell him to get legal if he thinks he can, or feel free to move....and, this type person is one you hope will move, trust me....I hate your avatar, haha.......

If my neighbor said something like that to me, I'd let it slide in one ear......and out the other. I'd probably have a quick light hearted response to let him know that I'll mow whenever my schedule permits.

I do agree with the 8am-8pm comment as well. I have a neighbor who will occasionally mow waayy too early on saturday morning. Eventhough it annoys me when he does so, it doesnt bother me enough to complain to him.

I figure he can probably here my SVS rocking on friday movie night, so I consider us even.......LOL

This neighbor is the reason I moved out into the "sticks"....now the only mower (or subwoofer) I can hear is my own! Hope you can work it out...that is, mow the grass whenever you damn well please!

Yea, but now you've got to deal with friggin' roosters crowing.

LOL

People should consider moving to an extremely rural location if they do not want to be bothered by neighbors going about their own personal business. North Dakota comes to mind.

I would've bit the guys head off with an extremely sarcastic "No sir, I will mow the lawn when I need to since this is my own property. In fact, since your request is so unreasonable, I will make every effort to mow the lawn during the time you don't want me to. I'd recommend that you write a letter to your local government organization of choice to suggest a lawn mowing law that prohibits mowing the lawn between the hours of the times your kids get out of school."

Well i look at it from the standpoint that he's concerned with a kid somehow getting hurt i suppose so i dont fault him for that. I mow at the same time as i have been and he hasnt said a word.

I would just echo what others have said, and continue on doing what you're doing, potentially avoiding this guy thinking he has some control over your property and actions.

.....BuckeyeNut, speaking of roosters....back when my marriage was young and we wuz broke, I went and bought a new actually real-nice 14x80 trailer that was quality, and still only had a house payment of about $260, when the norm was 450-700 for the same square footage....shoulda' bought land to sit the trailer on, sure sells better, but anyhow, I placed it in a nice trailer park just outside of a real nice small town close to NLR....we were there about 3 years....in year two, a neighboring LARGE rooster with evidently LARGE lungs, suddenly decided to sit outside my bedroom window on a fencepost, and loud enough to be heard 600 yards, announce the cracking of the sun...we would sit straight up and were using a decently loud fan on the dresser with the fan on high....this went on for about a week....around 5:30am....about the eighth morning he cut loose, the surrounding region heard a 12 gauge shotgun blast go off out a trailer backdoor and the crowing stopped....nothing was ever said......

Hows about a bit of the opposite extreme, Never mow the lawn (if you or the wife can live with it) and see how long it takes him to get pissed off because it devalues his property and makes his street look untidy:p
This guy sounds so anal, i wish he were my neighbour cos boy he sounds like fun to mess with;)

I suggest that Shokhead should kindly ask his neighbor to be even more anal.

Here are some suggestions.

In a very serious tone, ask your neighbor to…

Remove all sharp objects from their home.

So the kids can’t get hurt by forks and knives

Disconnect their electricity.

So the kids won't have a hair-raising experience

Stop driving on the weekends.

So no kids would be in any danger while playing outside

I would try something like this.

"Sure I will change my mowing schedule."

and the next day you could go over to his house and say....

"Joe Blow, I tried the new mowing schedule and it isn't working out. Would you mind...MOVING!"
