I finally repaired my Mirage 360 speakers, I want to get a movie that has good sound effects that utilizes all the speakers, I have a DD Enhanced Pro logic, with DTS Yamaha receiver, what are some movies that get full sound effects, someone mentioned Cut throat Island, canons going off and canon balls flying thru the air and explosions are supposed to be good, although this movie is an oldie, any suggestions

I just happen to like "Pearl Harbour" and "Heros" with Jet Lee. "Flight of the Phonix" is good too. The crash sceene I think is awesome.

DTS for Blade II is pretty good. Band of Brothers is another that comes to mind.

* Any of these titles on DVD would do it, but I mentioned which format is best at the present time, after each title's selection.

1. "Saving Private Ryan". The DTS DVD version; the first 25 minutes or so.

2. "Master and Commander - The Far Side of the World." The Blu-ray version.

3. "War of the Worlds" (2005). DTS DVD version.

4. "Bolt". Blu-ray version.

5. "Domino". Blu-ray version.

6. "Crank". Blu-ray.

7. "Cloverfield". Blu-ray.

8. "Matrix". Blu-ray.

9. "The Haunting". (1999) DTS DVD version.

10. "John Mayer - Where the Light is - Live in Los Angeles". Blu-ray.

*** There are many more titles to choose from, but I do like these for great immersing sounds all around the listening area.

I think Knowing is pretty good for effects. Seen it twice in DTS 7.1 and the "voices" surround and fill the room in a pretty cool way. Let alone the other stuff in the movie, and for sub action...:D

i like U571 for surround and explosions.

The Matrix, one of my favorite scenes is the helicopter scenes where he empties the guns into the side of the building and you hear the shells clinking

one of the first scenes that really sold me on surround sound was the movie Always, the first scene is this dude fishing and he casts his line and you here it go over your head nd splash behind you .. then the big water plane comes flying down over head

just a few of my favs

LOTR comes to mind (all 3 of them) with it's ringwraith shrieks and the surround sound of 200,000 orcs putting the White City to seige, but amazingly the only movie to exceed that is Dark Knight, which makes my subwoofer walk around the room and strain on its wire.
