The fastest I went in my tercel (rest in pieces) was about 120 KPH. ya woo kph.... I had a magnaflow performance muffler(the non ugly kind), had a nice bassy sound.

Performance muffler and Tercel should not be used in the same sentence...

Which has been around a long time, the song or the excuse? I guess the song qualifies because it was released in the early '80s.

The joke/excuse. The same thing happened to me but I was only going 140 mph in a 65 mph zone.

And I thought I had it bad with my 77' olds 98 (the fastest one ever built) pushing 893rwhp 8mpg city(on a windy day downhill) 12mpg highway (If I keep my foot out of it). Muscle cars and old school V8's are where the cheap speed is at.

I had a '75 olds 98, 2 door. That 455 was sweet. I got about 8 and 14 though. You must have been running the AC. All were amazed at the speed/size ratio. ( I think it was nearly 5000 lbs) Even more impressive was the price to performance ratio ($800usd in 1993) It had power everything. You could sleep two comfortably in the back seat. It had character, and was given many nicknames by friends and family: "das boot" "the lead sled" "the tank" to name a few.

It was the most fun car I ever owned, and the least expensive. Oh, did I mention the trunk was almost as useful as a short bed pick-up?
