I just saw "Moon", a new sci-fi flick. This is really an eccentric and interesting movie, sorta like a small Sundance movie, except it's set on the moon. The FX appear to be mostly sets and models, it has only a few characters, and no stars. In short, it's a moon colony, harvesting helium for terrestrial fusion reactors, manned by one guy when things go wrong. I don't want to go to far, because the entire plot would be a spoiler, but the drama is more existential than sci-fi. The feel is 2001 joined to Blade Runner, it's slow and driven by dialog, but has an underlying tension that comes from suspecting that things are not going to end well. Highly recommended and unique - a new sci-fi movie that doesn't have huge robots, comic superheros or monsters (not that I don't like those).
