I just saw "Moon", a new sci-fi flick. This is really an eccentric and interesting movie, sorta like a small Sundance movie, except it's set on the moon. The FX appear to be mostly sets and models, it has only a few characters, and no stars. In short, it's a moon colony, harvesting helium for terrestrial fusion reactors, manned by one guy when things go wrong. I don't want to go to far, because the entire plot would be a spoiler, but the drama is more existential than sci-fi. The feel is 2001 joined to Blade Runner, it's slow and driven by dialog, but has an underlying tension that comes from suspecting that things are not going to end well. Highly recommended and unique - a new sci-fi movie that doesn't have huge robots, comic superheros or monsters (not that I don't like those).

Sam Rockwell isn't a star? :D

I think he does really good work as an actor. Dating blond women that are taller than you is proof positive of that. You remember the old movie, Sleuth? It's kind of like that for casting. I liked it.

7.5/10

I liked Moon even though I had the plot figured out just from the film's description before it was released.

My only criticism is I didn't think having such a recognizable voice for the robot was a good choice, but that's a rather small thing as the film was definitely worth seeing.

I saw the trailer for this and was intrigued by it. I'll have to check it out at some point.
