Monster power bar question

Picked this item up for cheap (new) (only reason i bought it) just for my tv and subwoofer. i just have 1 question about it for anyone that has one, on one end of the bar there is a headphone jack plug in, that says ac/dc in 3-30v 10ma Min. there is also a cord that came with it for it. what would this be used for? p.s the manual sucks for this thing!

It's a 12 volt trigger, it works within that 3-30volt range.

i know its a 12 volt trigger, but is says IN beside it, why would it have a 12 volt trigger IN, and not OUT?

Some receivers have triggered 12V outputs, for turning things on when needed. That power bar falls into this category. If you don't want a power amp on all the time, like for Zone 2, you can use the trigger on the receiver to send 12VDC to the power bar and it will turn on. Denon receivers have the ability to assign the triggers but not all can do this. It's especially helpful when the amp doesn't have an auto turn-on and the jack can be powered by a wall wart that's plugged into a courtesy outlet on the receiver.

ok i think i understand it now. My power bar has switched and unswitched outlets on it, so the switched outlets you need to flick the switch ontop of the bar to turn them on, so if i was to leave that switch off, plug an amp into the switched side, and run a 12volt trigger from my receiver, when the 12 volt gets turned on, it turns the switched side of my power bar on, witch gives the amp power? is this correct?

i still dont understand why they wouldent put anything about it in the manual, it doesnt even say what it is in the manual.

Yes thats correct....I have been looking for one of these on the cheap for a long time as currently I have to either leave my amp on all the time or open my laundry room door and switch in on if I want to watch anything in my main room....
