Monster HTS1000 MKII.... what you think?

I found a website that sells this and other equipment that was used as displays for stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City etc. The site says that the items were used as displays for 90 days and they packaged them for resell. They have this unit for well under $100 and I mean well under $100. Also, they state that the strip is covered by Monster's warranty. I for one know that Monster do not request a receipt for warranties because I've returned a set of rca cables before for a replacement set without a receipt. So that part is covered.

Do you think this purchase is worthwile?

The warranty may not be a problem, but if you ever had any electrical surge damage to your equipment, you would need an original (nontransferable) proof of purchase of the unit to show Monster. Don't know if that would be a problem in this case or not.

I didn't know if I could post the price here. But they are selling for $49 plus shipping (via Fedex - which is the cheapest out there).

I normally am not a fan of used items either but this may be an exception for me. I figured as long as the lights are all working on the unit, then it's doing it's job.

Plus if it's not working I can send to Monster and get a new unit.:D

No I have some of Monsters cheaper surge protectors throughout the house. I just wanted to get a better one for my HT system because of all the equipment I now have.;)

Question. Which surge protector/power cleaner would you recommend just for my three amps and eq. I need one that has outlets for just Audio equipment filtering. The one's I've seen have a mixture of audio and video with different filters for either the audio or video outlets.

The HTS will be used for my AVR, Phono, Tape and CD player, DVD, DTV and VCR.

Thanks

Update: You are absolutely correct. I spoke with Monster and was told that not only do you need proof of purchase but you have to purchase from one of their authorized dealers. So I scratched my original plan. I found the HTS2000 on Amazon for $143 shipped - that's what I ordered and actually need - 12 outlets. So before you guys/gals consider ordering used monster surge protectors etc. consider the consequences.

Yes, but make sure you read the fine print on their guarantee. Most likely it states that it pays after the home owners insurance and may have other caveats?
