i am using monster cable speaker wire, mostly. as i have had it for YEARS, and well, why not. anyway....

what is the purpose of the little blue wire in the middle ? to piss off the people that have to work with it. thats all it seems to do. though i expect its marketing.

If it is speaker cable, I am not sure as I have not seen them. I have seen them on interconnect cables though.
What do they say it is for?

How about a picture of it or a link to the type of wire that you have?

Monster has like a million different types and until we know what you have ...

Is it actually wire or string?

If it's the speaker wire I'm thinking of, it has a plastic tube running down the center that they call a 'Flux Tube.'
They make some ridiculous claims as to it's added performance.
IMO, it's there to take up space and make the overall diameter of the wire look fatter than it really was.

Monster didn't always show the AWG of their wire, to hide the fact that the wire wasn't a true AWG size. Due to the plastic tube in it's center.

Does Monster offer a flux capacitor to go with it? How about a flux resistor? Or is it just the consumer that gets fluxed?

It's an annoyaning POS if you ask me. And it's a PITA for crimping the stuff. So much so I gave the cable away.

They put it in their to make their cable bigger while saving money.

It is a dielectric tube. Supposed to help with skin effect, but I doubt it really makes any difference at all.

Someone, somewhere, is getting fluxed by Monster. That you can count on.

I bought a small roll of that stuff 3 years ago when I was in Radio Shack buying banana plugs, as I knew I didn't have enough wire at home to set up a stereo system.

According to MC, that dielectric was to improve the HF. What a crock! That wire made the highs sound bright and brittle. Ordered some wire from BJC, and when it showed up a few days later, what a difference. The sound was as it should be again.

Would you purchase Monster Cable products at any price?!

Here's a question for the Monster Cable detractors!

Let's say you saw an ad for a 8 ft M-Series M1000 HDMI Cable which usually retails for the ridiculously high $199.00-230.00, for the price of $27.95. Now, it's not from an authorized retailer, but nonetheless, a reputable retailer and it is brand new in the factory package. Would you buy it?!!!!!

Or better yet, if Monster sold it's M-Series interconnects and HDMI cables at, let's say 80% off their usual MSRP, would you buy it?!

The real question is would you buy Monster cable products if they were more reasonably priced or does the hatred for the company cut so deep that you wouldn't buy Monster Cable at any price?!

Just curious.

Monster isn't bad, just overhyped and overpriced and their philosophy is extremely amoral. Their main sales tool is massive advertising, stretching the truth to the breaking point and yet making no testable claims, and extremely aggressive and greedy salespeople, particularly in big box stores who garner substantial spiffs to sell them.

If Monster were fairly priced I'd have no problem considering it. But, with Bluejeans, Monoprice and a few others, I'd say they would have some pretty stiff competition once the sizzle is removed from the steak.

Depends on the monster product. I bought their Z100 interconnects about 7 years ago. But bought some from BJC 2 years ago for a stereo setup, for much less and at least as good. MC would have to at least match BJC for anything, price wise.

But I've got no use for their (MC) speaker wire.

Monster's poer conditioners are total junk. If the spiel is dirty AC in = dirty A/V out, thier conditioners don't do a thing.
Just to check them out bought one 4~5 years ago, a middle of the road $500 unit. Had it in/out of the system for 30 days. I neither heard or saw a difference. Took it back, the guy at BB said, well it is also a surge protector, And I told him I can buy one of those for $50.

I use Monster X1S for my front 3 speakers because I got it dirt cheap and it works just fine. For the full retail price, I would not have bought it.
