Technology never stops to amaze. Wireless connections have opened an endless spectrum of possibilities. I still remember when I got my first Bluetooth cellphone and how I felt when I transferred my first song from my laptop to my cellphone. It was something out of this world. Now, we have this kind of technology almost anywhere with the existence of devices like smartphones, wireless speakers, wireless headphones, ipads, tablets, wireless battery chargers and the list goes on and on. Simply put, cables are becoming a thing of the past. Years ago we had to put a cassette (tape) or a vinyl disc to hear music. Then came the CD and now we have new technologies like Airstream. Now you simply connect your internet enabled devices and you are ready to enjoy an infinite amount of material in a matter of seconds. One device that I've been looking for some time isthe Airstream S300 from Monitor Audio.
The Airstream S300 is a powerful AirPlay® enabled 140W stereo speaker system, which provides unlimited wire-free access to music streamed from the Internet or stored on computer, smart phone or tablet. This unit is very easy to use, it has a very innovative room EQ software. The EQ system's in-room response is enhanced still further by Monitor Audio's innovative APC (Automatic Position Correction), which compensates for any room effects. An integrated microphone measures the total frequency response, and the EQ system makes the necessary adjustments according to the effects caused by the room/environment. A micro-processor then compares the response with an 'anechoic' ideal, and adjusts the S300 accordingly to recreate the ideal sound balance in any space. The only negative aspect of this device is that it was intended to be used with apple devices. Other than that, I haven't found any drawbacks. As I said, technology never cease to amaze.
