I've been to the MK site (Miller & Kreisel). Amazon, ebay,Google Shopping. No luck on price. I've called MK dealers. They won't quote MK over the phone. Have to come in if I want a price.

But I need to know how much it cost. There's a system available on Craigslist. But I won't to know how much a New system is worth. And then his, which is 3 yrs old. 2009 to be exact.

3 S-150 THX Fronts (L/C/R)
2 SS-150 THX Tripole Surrounds
1 MX-350 THX Subwoofer

The system is sold as a whole. Or by the individual speaker.
The seller bought the System as a whole. But,for the life of me. I can't find anywhere the price of S-150 System.

I just did a quick google on it, the only price I found were listed in British Pounds.

Their former speakers are a legend, but if the new business model is baiting, I have to wonder about quality much less their customer support.

Personally, I find that offensive and will spend my money elsewhere.

Considering how little I think of the MK Sound S-150 speakers for home theater purposes, I wouldn't even waste my time if I were you. There's a reason they won't sell unless you come in in person. And there's a reason the guy on Craig's list is getting rid of them!

Back when they were M&K, the S-150 were studio mixing speakers. And they followed the old, misguided THX theories back then, which called for strict vertical dispersion limits, and completely ignored anything to do with soundstage or imaging. The whole point was to deliver highly localized sound so that mixers could easily steer sound effects into each of the individual channels. But for playback, they suck! The sound is, "here's a speaker! And, here's a speaker! And look over here, another separate speaker!" There's no sense of soundstage, no imaging, no sense of realism. They're a decent enough tool for being able to easily pick out when you steer a given sound into a particular speaker channel during mixing. But there's a very good reason why "THX speakers" got an early reputation for being horrible for music playback, and it's largely because of the S-150 speakers.

Save your time, save your money, and buy yourself some speakers that are actually good for playback! Unless, of course, the whole purpose of your purchase here is to experience what movie soundtrack mixers were using 15 years ago and have since abandoned since it sucked. If that's your goal, then ok. But if you're after good speakers for a home theater, look elsewhere!
