I was wondering if mixing As-b2 as rears and AS-f2.2 will be a problem. The new 2 series I have heard sound the same as the 1 series but just the cosmetics of the speakers has changed. Any inputs.

From what I've heard from owners, they sound nearly identical. The blend between front and rear is less critical than the blend between the front three, so even if there was a minor difference, most probably wouldn't notice it.

I agree. These lines are VERY similar. The driver literally "feel" the same when you give em a tab. For some reason, the .2 line is lighter, even though its exactly the same dimensions. This could be because of lighter, yet stronger magnets, or something of that nature. I don't know for sure, does anyone?

Athena Audion .2

Yes, the drivers are identical and the only difference is the color. I read that they changed the wood supplier and possibly the thickness of MDF usd on portions of the speaker cabinet. According to Athena, the changes did not effect the sonic performance of the speaker and allowed them to maintain the same prices for their new line.

For surrounds, also check out the AS-R1.

Are you buying the AS-F2.2's or the AS-B2's? If your buying the B2's, I would get the R1's for surround. If you want dipole, get the B1's as the B2's are a little big for surrounds, just trying to save you some money.

If your buying the F2.2's, I would see if you can get smaller surrounds, as the B2's are pretty big, more of a main speaker. Its up to you, the bigger driver will give a bigger sound, just seems like a waste of a powerful bookshelf. Maybe start a 2 channel music system with them ?
